Abstract

The rice fish (Oryzias hubbsi) is a species found in West Java waters and has been categorized as almost threatened with extinction by the IUCN since 2018. This research aims to examine the habitat characteristics, distribution and growth patterns of O. hubbsi in Kalimati Pamarayan, Banten. The study was carried out in January 2023 using an exploration method using scoops, as well as measuring water and substrate quality. The results show that algae, water hyacinth, and muddy substrates and muddy sand dominate the habitat. Water quality has a pH of 6.95–7.76, DO 3.9–6.3 mg/L, and temperature of 25–29.1°C. The distribution of fish length was divided into seven groups, with the highest frequency at 25.7–26.7 mm. Length-weight analysis showed negative allometric growth (b = 0.9054), meaning the fish tended to grow longer rather than gain weight.

Additional Information: Ikan padi (Oryzias hubbsi) merupakan spesies yang ditemukan di perairan Jawa Barat dan telah dikategorikan hampir terancam punah oleh IUCN sejak tahun 2018. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji karakteristik habitat, distribusi, dan pola pertumbuhan O. hubbsi di Kalimati Pamarayan, Banten. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2023 dengan metode eksplorasi menggunakan gayung, serta pengukuran kualitas air dan substrat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alga, eceng gondok, dan substrat berlumpur serta pasir berlumpur mendominasi habitat tersebut. Kualitas air memiliki pH 6,95–7,76, DO 3,9–6,3 mg/L, dan suhu 25–29,1°C. Distribusi panjang ikan dibagi menjadi tujuh kelompok, dengan frekuensi tertinggi 25,7–26,7 mm. Analisis panjang-berat menunjukkan pertumbuhan alometrik negatif (b = 0,9054), yang berarti ikan cenderung tumbuh lebih panjang daripada bertambah berat.
