Abstract

Snakehead fish is a freshwater fish that has high economic value so that it can be used as an opportunity to be cultivated. The increasing production of freshwater fish, feed becomes a major problem in freshwater fish cultivation because it becomes the cost of cultivation production. For local or natural feed raw materials, it is one alternative to reduce the cost of fish maintenance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the right feed treatment for the growth of snakehead fish seeds (Channa striata). The research was conducted in December 2024 - March 2025. The research location was in the Lab Room of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Data analysis was conducted in the Lab Room of the Fisheries Science Study Program, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The study was conducted for 40 days at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Fisheries Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Snakehead fish seeds were kept in an aquarium measuring 60x40x40 cm3. Fish were fed 3 times a day ad satiation at 07.00, 12.00 and 15.00 WIB. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments according to the concentration of Treatment A (commercial feed 3x a day) (control), Treatment B commercial feed 2x a day and natural feed 1x a day, Treatment C commercial feed 1x a day and natural feed 2x a day, Treatment D (using natural feed 3x a day). The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS ver. 26 application. The results of the study showed that substitution of commercial feed using natural feed had an unfavorable impact on the growth and survival of snakehead fish seeds. The best growth of snakehead fish was found in treatment A. in treatment A, namely control treatment (pellets) and gave the best results in weight growth (6,23g), specific length of fish (2,89%) survival rate of 75%. pellets can affect growth because the content of pellets has a balanced content and is sufficient for the growth of snakehead fish.

Additional Information: Ikan gabus merupakan ikan air tawar yang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai peluang untuk dibudidayakan. Meningkatnya produksi ikan air tawar, pakan menjadi permasalahan utama dalam budidaya ikan air tawar karena menjadi biaya produksi budidaya. Bahan baku pakan lokal atau alami menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk menekan biaya pemeliharaan ikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan perlakuan pakan yang tepat terhadap pertumbuhan benih ikan gabus (Channa striata). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2024 – Maret 2025. Lokasi penelitian berada di Ruang Lab Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Analisis data dilakukan di Ruang Lab Program Studi Ilmu Perikanan, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 40 hari di Laboratorium Akuakultur, Program Studi Ilmu Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Benih ikan gabus dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 60x40x40 cm3. Ikan diberi pakan 3 kali sehari secara ad satiasi pada pukul 07.00, 12.00 dan 15.00 WIB. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan sesuai dengan konsentrasi yaitu Perlakuan A (pakan komersial 3x sehari), (kontrol), Perlakuan B pakan komersial 2x sehari dan pakan alami 1x sehari, Perlakuan C pakan komersial 1x sehari dan pakan alami 2x sehari, Perlakuan D (menggunakan pakan alami 3x sehari). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi SPSS ver. 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa substitusi pakan komersial dengan pakan alami memberikan pengaruh yang kurang baik terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup benih ikan gabus. Pertumbuhan ikan gabus terbaik ditemukan pada perlakuan A. Pada perlakuan A, yaitu perlakuan kontrol (pelet) memberikan hasil terbaik pada pertumbuhan berat (6,23g), panjang spesifik ikan (2,89%) dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 75%. Pelet dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan karena kandungan pelet memiliki kandungan yang seimbang dan cukup untuk pertumbuhan ikan gabus.
