Abstract

This study was based on students' low mathematics learning outcomes. The contributing factors were low learning motivation and inappropriate learning models. Therefore, a learning model that supports academic achievement and builds positive attitudes in students is needed. One suitable learning model is the cooperative learning model of the teams games tournament (TGT) type. The TGT model integrates game elements into learning activities so that students compete with each other and express their ideas in understanding mathematical concepts. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the TGT learning model on mathematics learning outcomes and motivation, as well as to determine the correlation between mathematics learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the pretest-posttest control group design. This study involved two groups: an experimental group using the TGT model and a control group using conventional learning. The study population consisted of high school students in Tangerang Regency for the 2024/2025 academic year. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Tangerang Regency. The sample consisted of 82 tenth-grade students selected using cluster random sampling. Research data were obtained from pretest and posttest results of mathematics learning as well as initial and final scales of learning motivation. The results of the study revealed that the TGT cooperative learning model had a significant effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes and learning motivation, and there was a positive correlation between mathematics learning motivation and students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya hasil belajar Matematika siswa. Faktor penyebabnya adalah rendahnya motivasi belajar dan ketidaktepatan model pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang mendukung pencapaian akademik dan membangun sikap positif siswa. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang sesuai adalah model kooperatif tipe teams games tornament (TGT). Model TGT mengintegrasikan elemen permainan dalam kegiatan belajar sehingga siswa saling berkompetisi dan mengungkapkan ide pikirannya dalam memahami konsep matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran TGT terhadap hasil belajar dan motivasi belajar Matematika serta untuk mengetahui korelasi antara motivasi belajar Matematika dengan hasil belajar Matematika siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi eksperimen tipe pretest-posttest control group design. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelompok, yaitu eksperimen menggunakan model TGT dan kontrol dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA di Kabupaten Tangerang tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 5 Kabupaten Tangerang. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 82 orang siswa kelas X yang dipilih menggunakan cluster random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh dari pretest dan posttest hasil belajar Matematika serta skala awal dan skala akhir motivasi belajar. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar dan motivasi belajar Matematika siswa serta terdapat korelasi positif antara motivasi belajar Matematika dengan hasil belajar Matematika siswa.
