Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether there is any effectiveness of utilizing Quizlet Application on students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMPN 2 Karang Tanjung. The method utilized in this study was quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The participant in this study were the seventh-grade students’of SMPN 2 Karang Tanjung. This study involved two classes as the sample, consisted of 28 students in experimental class and 28 students in control class. As the instrument to collect the data, the researcher utilized tests. The test was provided twice to both classes, consisted of pre-test and post-test. The outcomes of this study revealed that the students’ vocabulary mastery enhanced after utilizing Quizlet Application in the teaching-learning process. It was proven by the outcome of Sig. (2-tailed) of Independent T-test at 0.000, which was lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). It indicates that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, it can be inferred that there is any effectiveness of utilizing Quizlet Application on students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMPN 2 Karang Tanjung.

Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-eksperimental. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas tujuh SMPN 2 Karang Tanjung. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelas sebagai sampel, terdiri dari 28 siswa di kelas eksperimen dan 28 siswa di kelas kontrol. Sebagai instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan tes. Tes diberikan dua kali untuk kedua kelas, terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa penguasaan kosakata siswa meningkat setelah menggunakan Aplikasi Quizlet dalam proses belajar mengajar. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil Sig. (2-tailed) dari Independent T-test sebesar 0,000, yang lebih rendah dari 0,05 (0,000<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif diterima. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat efektivitas penggunaan aplikasi Quizlet terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Karang Tanjung.
