Abstract
The level of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) among students in Indonesia remained relatively low. The implementation of student-centered learning methods had been carried out, but in practice, it faced challenges such as the need for a significant amount of time and limited facilities. This situation often led teachers to revert to the traditional direct method, but the conventional direct method was less effective in developing HOTS due to its one-way approach.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of AI-assisted direct methods on students' higher-order thinking skills in wave-related material. This study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental approach with a nonequivalent control group design. The participants were Class XI students from one of the state high schools in Pandeglang, divided into two classes. The sample was selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a test instrument consisting of a pretest-posttest sheet with five essay questions. A t-test was applied to analyze the posttest results, revealing a value lower than the α significance level. This result indicated that the AI-assisted lecture method significantly affected the enhancement of students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in wave material. Furthermore, the N-Gain results showed that the HOTS ability of the experimental group was greater than that of the control class, with a moderate category.

Additional Information: | Kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) siswa di Indonesia masih terkategori rendah. Penerapan metode pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa sudah dilakukan, namun dalam perakteknya memiliki kendala seperti kebutuhan waktu yang panjang dan keterbatasan fasilitas. Kondisi ini menyebabkan guru sering kembali menggunakan metode ceramah, namun metode ceramah konvensional kurang efektif melatih HOTS karena pendekatannya yang satu arah. Tujuan dilakuakan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode ceramah berbantuan Artificial Intelligence terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa pada materi gelombang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitaif jenis quasi eksperiment, dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Sampel penelitian ini merupakan siswa kelas XI yang terbagi dalam dua kelas di salah satu SMA Negeri di Pandeglang. Sampel ini dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui instrument tes berupa lembar pretest-posttest sebanyak lima soal uraian. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji-t pada hasil posttest, yang memperlihatkan nilai kurang dari taraf siginifikansi α, yang mengindikasikan bahwa metode ceramah berbantuan AI memiliki pengaruh peningkatan HOTS siswa pada materi gelombang. Kemudian, hasil N-Gain menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan HOTS pada kelompok eksperimen lebih besar dibanding kelas kontrol dengan kategori sedang. | |||||||||
