Abstract

This research is based on the importance of character education from an early age, especially the character of discipline, which includes compliance with rules, basic responsibilities, routine consistency, self-control, and understanding the consequences of actions. The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of the habituation method in developing the character of discipline among children aged 3–4 years at Playgroup Tunas Insan Kamil in Serang City, as well as its impact on their character development. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that: (1) the habituation method at Playgroup Tunas Insan Kamil is implemented consistently through programmed activities, spontaneous activities, and teacher modeling. (2) the impact of this method includes increased compliance with rules, responsibility for personal belongings, punctuality, peaceful conflict resolution, and a better understanding of the positive and negative consequences of actions. Therefore, the habituation method plays an important role in shaping the disciplinary character of children aged 3–4 years.

Additional Information: Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pendidikan karakter sejak usia dini, khususnya karakter disiplin yang meliputi kepatuhan terhadap aturan, tanggung jawab sederhana, konsistensi rutinitas, pengendalian diri, dan pemahaman konsekuensi tindakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan metode pembiasaan dalam membentuk karakter disiplin anak usia 3-4 tahun di Playgroup Tunas Insan Kamil Kota Serang serta dampaknya terhadap perkembangan karakter anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif metode deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) penerapan metode pembiasaan di Playgroup Tunas Insan Kamil dilaksanakan secara konsisten pada kegiatan terprogram, kegiatan spontan, dan keteladanan guru. (2) Dampak dari penerapan metode ini adalah meningkatnya kepatuhan anak terhadap aturan, bertanggung jawab terhadap kepemilikan pribadi, datang ke sekolah tepat waktu, anak dapat menyelesaikan konflik secara damai, serta memahami bahwa setiap tindakan memiliki akibat baik itu positif maupun negatif. Dengan demikian, penerapan metode pembiasaan berperan penting dalam membentuk karakter disiplin anak usia 3-4 tahun.
