Abstract

ABSTRACT Siti Rahmi Fathia. NIM 091721. Thesis. The Leader Communication Strategies of UKM Jurnalistik Untirta in Building Cohesiveness. Communication Science. Faculty of Social and Politic Science. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. 2013. This research is examine about the leader communication strategies of UKM Jurnalistik Untirta in building cohesiveness. As a campus press, UKM Jurnalistik Untirta has the journalistic product that is Bidik Utama which is made to be published in every 3 months. However the publishes of Bidik Utama is not as its planned because the lack of cohesiveness by the members. And also there is an obstruction of work program. The cohesiveness is an important factor because it can strengthen unity, encourage the occurrence of friendliness and productivity in a group or organization. This research uses qualitative descriptive method, by collecting data through observation, interviews, documentary studies and documentation. The informants in this research was the leader whom is the chairman of the UKM Journalistic Untirta, Chief Editor of Bidik Utama and three UKM Journalistic members. The results of this research are the leaders building communication strategies of cohesiveness consists in several stages of strategy. First, he did the analysis of the audience by doing approach to interpersonal communication through members. Second, the Chairman composing messages in inductive and topically in the form of motivation so that members could keep the spirit. He also packed the information with a simple language and easy to understand. Third, he combines the delivery of messages via the method of educational informative, persuasive, and repetition. Fourth, the Chairman tend to used the electronic media by his handphone via SMS (Short Message Service) applications such as chat, Whatsapp, Blackberry Messenger to communicate with members. Of the strategies and various approaches that has been done, there is a change even though not significant yet. Keywords : Communication Strategies, UKM Jurnalistik Untirta, Cohesiveness.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana strategi komunikasi pimpinan UKM Jurnalistik Untirta dalam membangun kohesivitas. Sebagai pers kampus UKM Jurnalistik memiliki produk jurnalistik yaitu Bidik Utama diprogramkan terbit setiap 3 bulan. Namun penerbitannya terhambat karena kurangnya kohesivitas yang dimiliki setiap anggota. Selain itu terdapat program kerja yang tersendat dari target karena sumber daya manusia yang dirasa kurang. Kekompakan atau kohesivitas merupakan faktor penting karena dapat mendorong terjadinya keakraban dan produktivitas di suatu kelompok / organisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara, observasi, studi dokumenter dan dokumentasi. Narasumber dalam penelitian ini adalah Ketua Umum UKM Jurnalistik Untirta, pimpinan redaksi Bidik Utama, dan tiga anggota. Teori yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah teori empat sistem Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan strategi komunikasi dari Arifin Anwar yaitu strategi analisis khalayak, pimpinan melakukan pendekatan terhadap anggota melalui komunikasi antarpribadi dan interaksi langsung. Penyusunan pesan secara topikal dan induktif, berupa motivasi, persuasi dan informasi dengan bahasa yang sederhana dan mudah dimengerti. Penggunaan metode pimpinan dilakukan dengan metode persuasif, informatif, edukatif lalu repetisi. Media yang digunakan cenderung menggunakan media rapat, dan melalui SMS (Short Messaging Service), aplikasi chatting seperti whatsapp, Blackberry Messenger untuk berkomunikasi dengan anggota. Dari strategi dan berbagai pendekatan yang dilakukan, terdapat adanya perubahan meskipun belum signifikan. Kata kunci : Strategi Komunikasi, UKM Jurnalistik Untirta, Kohesivitas.
