Abstract
The results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018, it is known that in Indonesia around 71% of students do not reach the minimum level of mathematics competency, meaning that many students have difficulty in dealing with situations that require problem-solving skills using mathematics. Problem solving is an effort to achieve a solution to a problem so that problem-solving skills are very much needed by students in learning mathematics because it has a correlation with everyday life. The purpose of this study was to analyze how students solve mathematical problems in solving numeracy problems based on Mason's theory. This research method uses descriptive-qualitative. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class VIII A of Syekh Yusuf Junior High School, Tangerang City. The research instruments used in this study were tests and interviews. The results of this study were high-ability students were able to meet the Mason stages, then students with moderate abilities had Mason stages that were not met and in the review rubric section did not write the final conclusion of the solution. However, low-ability students were only able to understand the problem and in some questions were unable to solve as Mason's stages, so that Mason's stages were not met.

| Additional Information: | Hasil Programme for Internatonal Student Assesment (PISA) tahun 2018, diketahui negara Indonesia sekitar 71% siswa tidak mencapai tingkat kempetensi minimum matematika berarti banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menghadapi situasi yang membutuhkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah menggunakan matematika. Pemecahan masalah merupakan usaha dalam mencapai solusi dari suatu masalah sehingga kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat dibutuhkan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika karena memiliki korelasi dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis bagaimana pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal numerasi berdasarkan teori mason. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif-kualitatif. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A SMP Syekh Yusuf Kota Tangerang yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah siswa berkemampuan tinggi mampu memenuhi tahapan Mason, Kemudian siswa berkemampuan sedang terdapat tahapan Mason yang tidak terpenuhi dan pada bagian rubrik review tidak menuliskan kesimpulan akhir dari penyelesaian. Namun siswa berkemampuan rendah hanya mampu memahami masalah dan pada beberapa soal tidak mampu menyelesaikan sebagaimana tahapan Mason, sehingga pada tahapan Mason tidak terpenuhi. | |||||||||
