Abstract
Velocity of Money (V) is the average number of times money changes hands in an economy, considered as the average number of times the national currency is spent each year. This study aims to analyze the influence of electronic money, Currency in Circulation, and monetary policy on the Velocity of Money in BRICS countries using panel data with the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) method. The research covers 6 BRICS nations, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and Indonesia. Based on the research findings, it is shown that in the short term, electronic money, Currency in Circulation, and interest rates have a positive and significant effect on the Velocity of Money. Conversely, Exchange Rates and money supply (M2) have a negative and significant effect on the Velocity of Money, while inflation does not have a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, in the long term, electronic money, Exchange Rates, interest rates, and inflation have a positive and significant effect, whereas Currency in Circulation and money supply (M2) have a negative and significant effect on the Velocity of Money. Policymakers are advised to prioritize a long-term perspective in designing economic and monetary policies to support growth and stability, especially in BRICS countries.

| Additional Information: | Perputaran uang atau Velocity of Money (V) adalah jumlah rata-rata transaksi uang dalam perekonomian, kecepatan uang dianggap sebagai jumlah rata-rata berapa kali mata uang nasional dicairkan setiap tahun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh uang elektronik, uang kartal dan kebijakan moneter terhadap Velocity of Money di negara BRICS menggunakan data panel dengan metode Pooled Mean Group (PMG). Penelitian ini meliputi 6 Negara BRICS yang terdiri dari Brazil, Rusia, India, China, Afrika Selatan dan Indonesia. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam periode jangka pendek variabel uang elektronik, uang kartal, dan suku bunga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Sebaliknya, variabel nilai tukar, dan jumlah uang beredar (M2) berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Sedangkan variabel inflasi tidak berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Sementara dalam jangka panjang variabel Uang Elektronik, Nilai Tukar, Suku Bunga, dan Inflasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan sedangkan variabel Uang Kartal dan Jumlah Uang Beredar/M2 berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap Velocity of Money. Pembuat kebijakan disarankan mengutamakan perspektif jangka panjang dalam merancang kebijakan ekonomi dan moneter guna mendukung pertumbuhan dan stabilitas khususnya di negara-negara BRICS. | |||||||||
