Abstract
Many students have difficulty in expressing their opinions or arguments, is one of the factors for the low quantity of students with good speaking skills. Researchers are interested in using more varied learning methods in learning to create a more effective learning environment. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of using brainstorming learning method, the effectiveness of using storytelling learning method, and the difference in effectiveness between brainstorming and storytelling learning methods on speaking skills in class VIII SMPN 13 Serang City. This research chose a quantitative approach that used experimental research methods with a pretest posttest control group design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling technique with class VIII C as the experimental class and VIII D as the control class. The research data was obtained in the form of student speaking test results, then analyzed using a statistical calculation program, namely SPSS version 25. The pre analysis test was carried out with normality and homogeneity tests. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test and N-Gain test. The results of the t-test analysis obtained the same significance results between the brainstorming learning method and the storytelling learning method of 0.000 <0.05, meaning that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The significance of the N-Gain Score or the difference in effectiveness between the two shows the difference, the average of the brainstorming method is 28.90% and the average of the storytelling method is 17.35%. The results of the effectiveness significance test between the two methods show that the brainstorming method is superior to the storytelling method in improving students speaking skills in class VIII SMPN 13 Serang City.

Additional Information: | Banyaknya siswa yang kesulitan dalam menyampaikan pendapat atau argumennya menjadi salah satu faktor rendahnya kuantitas siswa dalam keterampilan berbicara yang baik. Peneliti tertarik menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang lebih variatif dalam pembelajaran guna menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang lebih efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan metode pembelajaran brainstorming, storytelling, serta perbedaan keefektifan antara metode pembelajaran brainstorming dan storytelling terhadap keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini memilih pendekatan kuantitatif, menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Data penelitian berupa hasil tes berbicara siswa, yang dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 25. Uji prasayat analisis dilakukan dengan uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil analisis uji t memperoleh hasil signifikansi yang sama antara metode pembelajaran brainstorming dan metode pembelajaran storytelling yaitu sebesar 0.000 < 0.05, artinya Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Perhitungan N-Gain Score atau selisih efektivitas antara keduanya menunjukkan perbedaan, rata-rata metode brainstorming sebesar 28.90% dan rata-rata metode storytelling sebesar 17.35%. Hasil uji signifikansi efektivitas antara kedua metode tersebut menunjukkan bahwa metode brainstorming lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan metode storytelling dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa di kelas VIII SMPN 13 Kota Serang. | |||||||||
