Abstract

The low mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students, particularly in the topic of circles, became the background of this study. This research aims to develop an electronic student worksheet (e-LKPD) based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. The development is grounded in constructivist theory, which emphasizes active student engagement in constructing knowledge through real and interactive experiences. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation phases. The study involved eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Menes. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, student and teacher response questionnaires, and pretest-posttest assessments. Validation results showed that the e-LKPD was highly valid, with an average score of 84% from media experts and 89% from content experts. The practicality of the e-LKPD was indicated by positive responses from students (82%) and teachers (94%). Its effectiveness was demonstrated by an N-Gain score of 0.44, categorized as moderate, and a significance value of 0.000 from hypothesis testing, indicating a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the PBL-based e-LKPD with the TaRL approach is considered feasible to be used as an innovative alternative instructional material to enhance students’ mathematical problem-solving ability.

Additional Information: Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMP, khususnya pada materi lingkaran, menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan e-LKPD berbasis model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Landasan utama dalam pengembangan ini mengacu pada teori konstruktivisme, yang menekankan pentingnya keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam membangun pengetahuan melalui pengalaman nyata dan interaktif. Penelitian ini merupakan Research and Developmen (R&D) dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang mencakup tahap Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Menes. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar validasi ahli, angket respon siswa dan guru, serta tes pretest dan posttest. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa e-LKPD berada dalam kategori sangat valid, dengan nilai rata-rata validator media sebesar 84 dan rata-rata validator materi sebesar 89. Kepraktisan e-LKPD ditunjukkan melalui respon siswa sebesar 82% dan respon guru sebesar 94% sehingga e-LKPD dinyatakan sangat praktis. Efektivitas e-LKPD ditunjukkan oleh hasil uji n-gain sebesar 0,44 kategori sedang serta hasil uji hipotesis dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara pretest dan posttest. Dengan demikian, e-LKPD model PBL dengan pendekatan TaRL ini dinyatakan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran sebagai alternatif inovatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.
