Abstract

The 21st century is a century in which the development of science and technology has increased so rapidly that it has become a challenge for humans not to be replaced. With the advancement of technology that has been developed, science has certainly developed as well for better education. Various types of learning media have also developed and improved as an effort to achieve learning goals. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of developing a role play game-based mobile learning games application as a learning media on the material of the development of atomic theory to be a solution to the challenges of technological development in the world of education. On the other hand, it is expected that the product of this research can help students in understanding chemistry learning and maintaining their learning motivation, especially in learning the material of the development of atomic theory. This research was developed using the R&D (research and development) research method with the ADDIE development model (analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate). The developed application was validated by 5 expert validations and tested on 30 class X students. The results of the material validation stage obtained a feasibility percentage value of 0.94 and were declared “valid”. Meanwhile, the media expert validation obtained a feasibility percentage value of 0.95 which can be declared “valid”. The results of the limited trial conducted obtained an average percentage of each aspect of 89% in the “very good” category and the criteria for achieving learning outcomes of 87 which included “very good” criteria. From the data that has been presented previously, it can be concluded that the mobile learning games application “Atomic History” based on role play games on the material of the development of atomic theory is declared feasible and can be used as learning media in the learning process in the classroom.
