Abstract

Global warming is a significant increase in the Earth's surface temperature. The cause is the increase in GHG emissions in the earth's atmosphere resulting from human and natural activities. The carbon footprint or total GHG emissions resulting from activities will be retained in the atmosphere and block the escape of solar heat from the earth's surface. This study aims to determine and understand the level of knowledge and understanding of teachers and students on carbon footprint issues. There are 3 test instruments used in this study, namely knowledge, attitude and understanding tests. The samples involved in this study were 71 science teachers and 235 high school students from all over Indonesia. The teacher test instruments used were validated before use and had a reliability of 0.85 for the knowledge test, 0.90 for the attitude test and 0.91 for the comprehension test. The student test instrument had a reliability of 0.90 for the knowledge test, 0.89 for the attitude test and 0.89 for the comprehension test. The data obtained were analyzed using the percentage relative frequency test. The results showed that the level of teacher knowledge (72%, good category) was higher than that of students (63%, fair category), while the level of teacher awareness (95.63%, very good category) and students (84.72%, very good category) were classified as very good. However, the level of understanding of teachers (61%, fair category) and students (50%, poor category) is still low.

Additional Information: Pemanasan global merupakan meningkatnya suhu permukaan bumi secara signifikan. Penyebabnya yaitu meningkatnya emisi GRK di atmosfer bumi yang dihasilkan dari aktivitas manusia dan alam. Jejak karbon atau total emisi GRK yang dihasilkan dari aktivitas akan tertahan di atmosfer dan menghalangi keluarnya panas matahari dari permukaan bumi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memahami tingkat pengetahun dan pemahaman guru dan siswa terhadap permasalahan jejak karbon. Terdapat 3 instrumen tes yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu tes pengetahuan, sikap dan pemahaman. Sampel yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini yaitu 71 guru IPA dan 235 siswa SLTA yang berasal dari seluruh indonesia. Instrumen tes guru yang digunakan divalidasi sebelum digunakan dan memiliki reliabilitas 0,85 untuk tes pengetahuan, 0,90 untuk tes sikap dan 0,91 untuk tes pemahaman. Untuk istrumen tes siswa memiliki reliabilitas 0,90 untuk tes pengetahuan, 0,89 untuk tes sikap dan 0,89 untuk tes pemahaman. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji frekuensi relatif persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bawha tingkat pengetahuan guru (72%, kategori baik) lebih tinggi daripada siswa (63%, katogori cukup), semenatara tingkat kesadaran guru (95,63%, kategori sangat baik) dan siswa (84,72%, kategori sangat baik) tergolong sangat baik. Namun tingkat pemahaman guru (61%, kategori cukup) dan siswa (50%, katogori kurang) masih rendah.
