Abstract
Early childhood cognitive development is the basis for logical, analytical, and problem-solving thinking skills. However, mathematics learning in early childhood still often uses boring conventional methods, such as worksheets and routine exercises, so that it is less relevant to children's daily lives. This study aims to determine the application of loose part media in introducing early mathematics to children aged 4-5 years at PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon, in group A. This study uses a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are collected through observations that produce field notes, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data validation is carried out by extending observations, persistence and consistency of observations, triangulation, member checks, negative case analysis, peer checking or discussion and referential adequacy. This study aims to examine the application of loose parts media in introducing early mathematics concepts to children aged 4-5 years at PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon. The results of the study indicate that loose parts media are used in a planned and consistent manner in STEAM-based learning using loose part media. Children are able to recognize mathematical concepts such as one-to-one correspondence, patterns, classification, numbers, size, geometry, space and time, and comparison through play activities. Teachers act as active facilitators in supporting children's exploration. Despite obstacles such as time constraints and media arrangement, learning remains optimal thanks to support from various parties. Overall, the use of loose parts has proven to be effective and enjoyable in introducing early mathematics.

| Additional Information: | Perkembangan kognitif anak usia dini merupakan dasar bagi kemampuan berpikir logis, analitis, dan pemecahan masalah. Namun, pembelajaran matematika pada anak usia dini masih sering menggunakan metode konvensional yang membosankan, seperti lembar kerja dan latihan rutin, sehingga kurang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan media loose part dalam mengenalkan matematika permulaan anak usia 4–5 tahun di PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon, pada kelompok A. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi yang menghasilkan catatan lapangan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Validasi data dilakukan dengan cara perpanjangan pengamatan, ketekunan dan keajegan pengamatan, triangulasi, member chek, analisis kasus negatif, pengecekan atau diskusi teman sejawat dan kecukupan referensial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan media loose parts dalam mengenalkan konsep matematika permulaan pada anak usia 4–5 tahun di PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media loose parts digunakan secara terencana dan konsisten dalam pembelajaran berbasis STEAM dengan menggunakan media loose part. Anak mampu mengenal konsep matematika seperti korespondensi satu-satu, pola, klasifikasi, bilangan, ukuran, geometri, ruang dan waktu, serta perbandingan melalui kegiatan bermain. Guru berperan sebagai fasilitator aktif dalam mendukung eksplorasi anak. Meskipun terdapat hambatan seperti keterbatasan waktu dan penataan media, pembelajaran tetap optimal berkat dukungan dari berbagai pihak. Secara keseluruhan, penggunaan loose parts terbukti efektif dan menyenangkan dalam mengenalkan matematika permulaan. | |||||||||
