Abstract

The high unemployment rate among vocational high school (SMK) graduates, which reached 9.01% (BPS, 2024), indicates the low relevance between graduate competencies and the needs of the industrial sector. To address this gap, the industrial class approach has been implemented as a form of vocational education that is directly integrated with the business and industrial world (DUDI). This study aims to compare the learning outcome competencies of students in industrial classes and regular classes at SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon, viewed from cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This research employed a quantitative comparative approach using the Mann-Whitney analysis technique on a sample of 120 students from two vocational programs. Data collection instruments included tests, questionnaires, and observation sheets. The results showed that students in industrial classes achieved higher competence scores than those in regular classes, with average scores of 82.9 in cognitive, 89.8 in psychomotor, 92.9 in learning motivation, and 93.1 in work readiness. All variables showed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05), indicating that industry- based learning is more effective in improving student outcomes and work readiness. These findings support previous studies by Efendi (2017), Akbar et al. (2020), and Sari & Santosa (2019), but offer novelty by comprehensively measuring all competency domains while also examining occupational safety culture (K3) in the context of a vocational school partnered with PT Krakatau Posco. This study makes a concrete contribution to strengthening the link-and-match strategy between vocational schools and industry and recommends the broader implementation of the industrial class model as a strategy to enhance the quality and relevance of vocational education graduates.

Additional Information: Tingginya angka pengangguran lulusan SMK yang mencapai 9,01% (BPS, 2024) menunjukkan masih rendahnya relevansi antara kompetensi lulusan dengan kebutuhan dunia industri. Untuk mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut, pendekatan kelas industri diterapkan sebagai bentuk pembelajaran vokasi yang terintegrasi langsung dengan dunia usaha dan dunia industri (DUDI). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kompetensi hasil belajar siswa kelas industri dengan kelas reguler di SMK YP Fatahillah 1 Cilegon, ditinjau dari aspek kognitif, afektif, serta psikomotorik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif dengan teknik analisis Mann-Whitney terhadap 120 siswa dari dua program keahlian. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes, angket, dan lembar observasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas industri memiliki capaian kompetensi yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa kelas reguler, dengan nilai rata-rata kognitif 82,9, psikomotorik 89,8, motivasi belajar 92,9, dan kesiapan kerja 93,1. Seluruh variabel menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik (p < 0,05), yang mengindikasikan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis industri lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar dan kesiapan kerja siswa. Temuan ini mendukung hasil penelitian sebelumnya oleh Efendi (2017), Akbar et al. (2020), dan Sari & Santosa (2019), namun menghadirkan kebaruan dengan mengukur seluruh ranah kompetensi secara komprehensif sekaligus mengkaji budaya K3 di lingkungan SMK binaan industri PT. Krakatau Posco. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam penguatan strategi link and match antara SMK dan DUDI, serta merekomendasikan replikasi model kelas industri untuk diterapkan secara lebih luas sebagai strategi peningkatan kualitas dan relevansi lulusan pendidikan vokasi.
