Abstract

This research is driven by the development of Engklek (a traditional Indonesian hopscotch game) as a learning medium in the IPAS subject for fourth-grade students, which is considered essential. This initiative not only helps students understand moral and national values but also contributes to enhancing the basic motivation of students during a critical stage in their educational development. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Engklek as a learning medium to improve student motivation. This includes analyzing the development stages, feasibility, effectiveness, and student responses. The research employs the 4-D development model, which includes four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. Data analysis uses a qualitative approach to explore feedback from experts, teachers, and students, and a quantitative approach to measure the effectiveness of the Engklek game based on the questionnaire and test results. The findings indicate that the Engklek-based learning media is effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation. The N-Gain Score calculation shows that using Engklek media increases student motivation. The average pre-test score of students was 62.4, which increased to 84.4 in the post-test, with an average N-Gain Score of 0.593 or 59.31%. According to the N-Gain effectiveness criteria, this score falls into the medium category, indicating that the Engklek game is reasonably effective in boosting student motivation. Several students achieved high improvement with an N-Gain Score of over 70%, indicating that this medium can significantly help improve learners’ motivation. Expert validations for content and media showed very high feasibility, at 81.25% and 90.67% respectively. Teachers responded very positively, with a 95.8% approval rate, and 97.6% of students stated that the engklek media helped enhance their understanding during learning. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the development of local wisdom-based media through traditional games can increase students’ learning motivation in the IPAS subject (Study at SDIT Nurul Hidayah).

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji efektivitas media permaianan engklek untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajara siswa, termasuk menganalisis tahapan pengembangan, kelayakan, efektivitas, respons siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan model pengembangan 4-D. Modelini terdiri dari 4 tahap pengembangan yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket validasi ahli, serta tes pre-test dan post-test. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menggali tanggapan ahli, guru, dan siswa, serta pendekatan kuantitatif untuk mengukur efektivitas permaianan engkle berdasarkan hasil angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran engkle efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Hasil perhitungan N-Gain Score pada pengambilan data ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media engklek memiliki efektivitas dalam meningkatkan motivasi siswa. Rata-rata skor pre test siswa sebesar 62,4 meningkat menjadi 84,4 pada post test, dengan rata-rata N-Gain Score sebesar 0,593 atau 59,31%. Berdasarkan kriteria efektivitas N-Gain, nilai ini termasuk dalam kategori sedang, yang berarti permainan engklek cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi siswa. Beberapa siswa mencapai peningkatan tinggi dengan N-Gain Score lebih dari 70%, yang menunjukkan bahwa media ini dapat membantu siswa secara signifikan dalam meningkatkan motivasi peserta didik. Validasi ahli materi dan media menunjukkan kelayakan sangat tinggi, masing-masing sebesar 81,25% dan 90,67%. Respons guru sangat positif, dengan 95,8% dan motivasi siswa terhadap permaianan engklek sebesart 97,6% siswa menyatakan bahwa media engklek membantu meningkatkan pemahaman dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan media berbasis kearifan lokal pada permainan tradisional dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran ipas (studi di sdit nurul hidayah).
