Abstract
This research is motivated that the learning IPS at this time is less varied and the teacher's role is more dominant, not involve students to participate in the learning process, so that the resulting lack of ability of understanding the concept of students. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the ability of students 'understanding of concepts in social science subjects among students who use learning strategies active type Index Card Match with students who use learning strategies expository and to determine whether the ability of students' understanding of concepts in social science subjects who use the strategy of active learning type Index Card Match is better than the ability of understanding the concept of students who use learning strategies expository. Methods this research is a quasi experimental design with nonequivalen control group design. The population under study is all students of class V SDN Tegal Cabe, while the sample is class VA as experimental class and class VB as the control class. The technique of taking the sample using purposive sampling. The instrument used in this research are instrument test and non-test. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the ability of students 'understanding of concepts in social science subjects among students who use learning strategies active type Index Card Match with students who use learning strategies expository and ability of the students' understanding of concepts in social science subjects who use the strategy of active learning type Index Card Match is better than the ability of understanding the concept of students who use learning strategies expository.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi bahwa pembelajaran IPS saat ini dirasa kurang bervariasi dan peran guru lebih dominan, tidak melibatkan siswa untuk berpartisipasi dalam proses pembelajaran, sehingga mengakibatkan kurangnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS antara siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match dengan siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori dan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori. Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalen control group design. Populasi yang diteliti adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SDN Tegal Cabe, sedangkan sampelnya adalah kelas VA sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VB sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampelnya menggunakan purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes dan non tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS antara siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match dengan siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori dan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif tipe Index Card Match lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori. | |||||||||
