Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the implementation of the blue economy concept on economic growth in eight coastal provinces of Indonesia during the 2020– 2023 period. The blue economy is viewed as a sustainable development strategy that optimizes the potential of marine resources to promote the economic welfare of coastal regions. The method employed is static panel data regression using Stata 14 software, with independent variables including capture fisheries, aquaculture, fishery exports, fisheries sector labor, maritime transportation, and marine tourism. The analysis results show that capture fisheries, aquaculture, and fishery exports have a positive and significant impact on regional economic growth. Meanwhile, labor in the fisheries sector does not exhibit a significant influence. Maritime transportation shows a negative but significant effect on economic growth, while marine tourism has a positive but not statistically significant impact. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy and integration among sectors in developing the blue economy to strengthen regional coastal economic development in an optimal, efficient, and sustainable manner.
