Abstract
Education constitutes a fundamental element in developing the potential of all students, including deaf students who have hearing impairments but still possess cognitive and motor skills that can be optimally developed. One of the approaches that can be utilized is through visual arts education, particularly batik-making, which is visual and concrete in nature. However, in reality, many schools have not yet provided batik instruction for deaf students, as is the case at SKH Al-Khairiyah Cilegon. In fact, batik-making skills not only serve to preserve cultural heritage but also enhance students’ creativity and self-confidence. This study aims to examine the impact of using ecoprint with the pounding technique in improving the batik making skills of deaf students. Ecoprint is a batik-making technique that utilizes natural materials and a simple method, making it considered easier to understand and apply by deaf students. This study uses an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test, with the research subjects consisting of 4 hearing-impaired students at SKh Al Khairiyah Cilegon. The results of the Wilcoxon test show that H0 is rejected because Tcount < Ttabel. With a significance level of 0.05, the sample size (n) is 4, and the number of variables (k) is 2. Using the formula df = n – k, we get df = 4 – 2 = 2. The tabel value (Ttabel) is then determined to be 2.919. Therefore, since Tcount < Ttabel, H0 is rejected. This indicates that the application of ecoprint with the pounding technique can improve the batik skills of hearing-impaired children and provide them with valuable skills for their future.

| Additional Information: | Pendidikan memiliki peran penting dalam mengembangkan potensi seluruh peserta didik, termasuk anak tunarungu yang memiliki hambatan dalam pendengaran namun tetap memiliki kemampuan kognitif dan motorik yang dapat dikembangkan secara optimal. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat digunakan adalah melalui pembelajaran seni rupa, khususnya membatik, yang bersifat visual dan konkret. Namun, kenyataannya masih banyak sekolah yang belum memberikan pembelajaran membatik kepada anak tunarungu, seperti yang terjadi di SKH Al Khairiyah Cilegon. Padahal, keterampilan membatik tidak hanya berperan dalam melestarikan budaya, tetapi juga dapat meningkatkan kreativitas dan kepercayaan diri peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan ecoprint dengan teknik pounding dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membatik anak tunarungu. Ecoprint merupakan teknik membatik yang menggunakan bahan-bahan alam dan teknik sederhana, sehingga dinilai lebih mudah dipahami dan diterapkan oleh anak tunarungu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest. Data diolah menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon dengan subjek penelitian yaitu 4 peserta didik tunarungu di SKH Al-Khairiyah Cilegon. Melihat perhitungan Uji Wilcoxon yang menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak karena Thitung < Ttabel. Dengan taraf kepentingan 0,05, jumlah n (sampel) = 4, dan jumlah k (variabel) = 2. Mengambil dari rumus perhitungan df = n – k, maka df = 4 – 2 = 2. Setelah itu, ditetapkan Ttabel = 2,919. Oleh karena itu, Thitung < Ttabel dan H0 ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ecoprint dengan teknik pounding dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membatik anak tunarungu serta memperoleh bekal keterampilan yang bermanfaat untuk perlombaan ataupun ide berwirausaha pada masa yang akan datang. | |||||||||
