Abstract
This research begins from the issue of body shaming, which is still frequently experienced by women, both in public spaces and on social media. One film that represents this issue is 200 Pounds Beauty Indonesia, an adaptation of a popular South Korean film with the same title. This research aims to examine the representation of body shaming toward women in the film using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach by analyzing denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings. The findings reveal eight scenes depicting body shaming toward the main character, Juwita, through visual and verbal elements. The film portrays fat bodies as socially unacceptable and not in line with the ideal feminine image. Body shaming is shown as a form of symbolic violence that reinforces social stigma against bodies that do not meet beauty standards. 200 Pounds Beauty Indonesia indirectly contributes to the reproduction of the myth of the ideal female body through its visual and verbal narratives.
