Abstract

This study was conducted due to the low mathematical problem-solving abilities of vocational high school students. One of the issues contributing to this problem is students' low motivation to learn, which leads them to focus more on vocational subjects and face difficulties with basic calculations. Consequently, students find it challenging to solve mathematical problems. One solution to overcome this issue is implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Google Sites. The PBL model includes steps that can help students identify problems, develop problem-solving plans, solve problems using appropriate methods, and review their solutions. Additionally, Google Sites is user-friendly, free, and practical as it does not require programming skills.The purpose of this study was to determine whether the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who were taught using the PBL model assisted by Google Sites media were better than those who did not use the PBL model or Google Sites. The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 2 Kota Cilegon using a quasi-experimental method involving two groups: an experimental class and a control class, with pre-tests and post-tests given. The research sample consisted of 76 tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling, involving non-random sample selection. Data collection methods included initial ability tests, final ability tests, and student response questionnaires regarding the PBL model assisted by Google Sites. The results showed that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities using the PBL model assisted by Google Sites were better and showed significant improvement compared to students who were taught using the Cooperative-STAD model.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan atas dasar kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa SMK yang rendah. Salah satu permasalahan siswa dalam kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik adalah karena rendahnya motivasi belajar yang mengakibatkan mereka cenderung lebih memfokuskan akademik di bidang kejuruannya dan kesulitan siswa dalam hitungan dasar. Hal tersebut menyebabkan siswa sulit menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika sehingga kemampuan pemecahan masalah tersebut akan dapat diatasi salah satunya dengan model problem based learning berbantuan google sites. Hal ini dikarenakan di dalam model PBL memuat tahapan yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa dalam mengidentifikasi masalah, membuat rencana penyelesaian, menyelesaikan masalah dengan metode yang tepat, memeriksa kembali kebenaran masalah, dan media google sites mudah digunakan, gratis pemakaian, dan praktis karena tidak menggunakan bahasa pemrograman. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa yang mendapatkan model Problem Based Learning berbantuan media Google Sites lebih baik dibandingkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa yang tidak menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan media Google Sites. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 2 Kota Cilegon. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian yang melibatkan 2 kelompok yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan pemberian prtes dan postes. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 76 siswa kelas X yang dipilih secara purposive sampling dengan cara mengambil sampel non-acak. Metode pengumpulan data daam penelitian ini dipeoleh dari tes kemampuan awal siswa, tes kemampuan akhir siswa, dan data angket respon siswa mengenai model PBL berbantuan media Google Sites. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa yang menggunakan model PBL berbantuan media Google Sites lebih baik dan meningkat dibadingkan dengan siswa yang menggunakan model Kooperatif-STAD.
