Abstract
Plastic is difficult to decompose and takes hundreds of years to break down in nature. Many plastics in the ocean damage the ecosystem because marine organisms often mistake plastic for food, as some pieces of plastic resemble their natural prey. Plastic breaks down into microplastics, parts smaller than 5 mm, which are dangerous and contain toxic compounds such as phthalates and bisphenol-A (BPA). This study aims to calculate and identify the types of microplastics in sea pomfret and mackarel tuna at Ciruas Market, conducted from October to December 2024. Samples were taken using the purposive sampling method and analyzed at the Aquatic Product Processing Technology Laboratory. The results showed that both types of fish contained fiber-type microplastics originating from fishing gear and synthetic materials. FTIR testing identified nylon-like polymers. Nylon net waste can disrupt marine biota if not managed properly.

Additional Information: | Plastik sulit terurai dan membutuhkan waktu ratusan tahun untuk terurai di alam. Banyaknya plastik di lautan merusak ekosistem karena organisme laut sering kali salah mengira plastik sebagai makanan, karena beberapa potongan plastik menyerupai mangsa alaminya. Plastik terurai menjadi mikroplastik, bagian yang berukuran lebih kecil dari 5 mm, yang berbahaya dan mengandung senyawa beracun seperti ftalat dan bisphenol-A (BPA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghitung dan mengidentifikasi jenis mikroplastik pada ikan bawal laut dan ikan tenggiri di Pasar Ciruas, yang dilakukan pada bulan Oktober sampai dengan Desember 2024. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan dianalisis di Laboratorium Teknologi Pengolahan Hasil Perairan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua jenis ikan tersebut mengandung mikroplastik jenis serat yang berasal dari alat tangkap ikan dan bahan sintetis. Pengujian FTIR mengidentifikasi polimer seperti nilon. Limbah jaring nilon dapat mengganggu biota laut jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. | |||||||||
