Abstract
The development of journalism in the current digital era is increasingly rapid, supported by technological advances. The media can utilize technology in the process of making news. With the advent of the internet, the mass media has also switched to following developments in the digital era, producing online media. The ease of accessing news in online media results in the rapid spread of information. Not infrequently, the information that is spread is hoaxes and fake news. To prevent worse spread, an update was born in the field of journalism, namely data journalism. Journalism based on strong data can be one solution to prevent the spread of fake news. This study aims to determine how journalists understand data journalism, how to apply data journalism practices in the Harian Umum Kabar Banten and the challenges faced in the process of implementing data journalism. The results of the study showed that 2 out of 4 informants understood data journalism and could explain the meaning of data journalism well. Then in the application of data journalism, journalists from the Harian Umum Kabar Banten have not applied data journalism practices in writing news. Furthermore, the challenges in implementing data journalism are the availability of open data that is still not massive and human resources that are inadequate in the field of data journalism. The author suggests that further research be conducted using more diverse samples in order to produce better research.

| Additional Information: | Perkembangan jurnalisme di era digital saat ini semakin pesat didukung oleh kemajuan teknologi. Media dapat memanfaatkan teknologi dalam proses pembuatan berita. Dengan munculnya internet, media massa turut beralih mengikuti perkembangan di era digital menghasilkan media daring. Kemudahan dalam mengakses berita di media daring mengakibatkan pernyebaran informasi yang cepat. Tidak jarang informasi yang menyebar merupakan hoaks dan berita bohong. Untuk mencegah penyebaran yang lebih parah, lahirlah pembaruan dibidang jurnalisme yakni jurnalisme data. Jurnalisme dengan berbasis data yang kuat dapat menjadi salah satu solusi untuk mencegah penyebaran berita bohong. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemahaman jurnalis tentang jurnalisme data, bagaimana penerapan praktik jurnalisme data di Harian Umum Kabar Banten dan tantangan yang dihadapi dalam proses penerapan jurnalisme data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 2 dari 4 informan memahami jurnalisme data dan dapat menjelaskan pengertian jurnalisme data dengan baik. Kemudian dalam penerapan jurnalisme data, jurnalis Harian Umum Kabar Banten belum menerapkan praktik jurnalisme data dalam penulisan berita. Selanjutnya tantangan dalam penerapan jurnalisme data yakni ketersediaan data terbuka yang masih belum masif dan sumber daya manusia yang belum memadai di bidang jurnalisme data. Penulis menyarankan agar dilakukan penelitian lanjutan dengan menggunakan sample yang lebih beragam agar menghasilkan penelitian yang lebih bagus. | ||||||
