Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the beginning of the implementation of The Long of Mulud in Panggung Jati Village, Banten, to describe the development of the The Long of Mulud Tradition in Panggung Jati Village, Banten in 1990 - 2015, and to describe the influence of the The Long of Mulud Tradition on social life and the culture of the people of Panggung Jati village, Banten. This study uses historical research methods which consist of heuristics or source collection, source criticism, both internal and external sources, interpretation in the form of source interpretation, and the final stage of historiography which determines the success or failure of a study. In this study, the authors also used the Theory of Symbolic Interactionism, according to George Herbert Mead, symbolic interaction focuses on the ideas expressed by individuals so that there is interaction with society in the form of communication or symbols that have meaning. The Long of Mulud is a typical Banten tradition which is carried out once a year as a commemoration of the joy of the community in welcoming the birth month of the Prophet Muhammad, who is a role model for Muslims. Besides that, the existence of this tradition is also a commemoration of the appointment of the sultan of Banten, namely Sultan al-Mafakhir Abdulkadir who received the title of Sultan and the recognition of the Sultanate of Banten from the Sultan of the Middle East. So that with the background of these two major events, it becomes a cultural icon of Banten that must be preserved.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan awal mula pelaksanaan Panjang Mulud di Kelurahan Panggung Jati, Banten, mendeskripsikan perkembangan Tradisi Panjang Mulud di Kelurahan Panggung Jati, Banten tahun 1990 - 2015, dan mendeskripsikan pengaruh Tradisi Panjang Mulud terhadap kehidupan sosial dan budaya masyarakat Panggung Jati, Banten. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Historis yang terdiri dari Heuristik atau pengumpulan sumber, Kritik sumber baik Sumber Internal dan Sumber Ekternal, Interpretasi berupa penafsiran sumber dan Historiografi tahap terakhir yang menentukan berhasil tidaknya suatu penelitian. Pada penelitian ini penulis juga menggunakan Teori Interaksionalisme Simbolik, menurut George Herbert Mead interaksi simbolik memfokuskan kepada ide-ide yang dituangkan oleh individu sehingga terjadi interaksi dengan masyarakat baik berupa komunikasi atau symbol yang memiliki makna. Panjang Mulud merupakan tradisi khas Banten yang dilakukan setiap satu tahun sekali sebagai peringatan bentuk kegembiraan masyarakat dalam menyambut bulan kelahiran Nabi Muhammad Saw., yang menjadi suri tauladan umat Islam. Disamping itu, adanya tradisi ini juga sebagai peringatan pengangkatan gelar sultan Banten yaitu Sultan al-Mafakhir Abdulkadir yang mendapatkan gelar Sultan dan pengakuan Kesultanan Banten dari Sultan Timur Tengah. Sehingga dengan latar belakang dua peristiwa besar inilah menjadi budaya icon Banten yang harus dilestarikan. | |||||||||
