Abstract

Due to shrinking advertising revenues and the financial crisis in print journalism, the last decade has brought significant cutbacks to many newsrooms around the world. Editorial departments, many of which have been restructured into integrated newsrooms, face the challenge of producing more content for multiple channels while employing fewer journalists. These editors are responsible for increasing the overall traffic of editorial content and identifying trending topics that are likely to drive traffic, often through search engine optimization (SEO) and social media optimization (SMO). On that basis, Jabar Ekspres media, which was originally a print/newspaper media, then developed online media by recruiting editors or called Class Leaders and many content writers, but they also did not leave journalistic products in print/newspaper media. This research approach uses a qualitative methodology with a Media Ethnography approach. According to Bogdan and Taylor (1973), qualitative research is a research procedure that produces descriptive data, speech or writing, and behavior that can be observed from the subject itself. This approach directly shows the setting and individuals in the setting as a whole. Study subjects in the form of institutions, organizations, or individuals are not narrowed down into separate variables or hypotheses, but are seen as part of a whole (holistic) (Bungin, 2011). There are 5 types of content produced by Content Writers at Jabar Ekspres. These five types of content must be written by Content Writers to fulfill the obligation of 10 posts a day. These types of content are Evergreen Content, Viral Content, Specialization Content, Competitor Content, and Niche Content. Sources of writing produced by content writers can be obtained from social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Even from other credible websites such as websites of ministries and local government agencies, but not allowed from competitor media websites. From these financial writing themes, the jabarekspres.com website earns a lot of money from google adsense results.

Additional Information: Karena menyusutnya pendapatan iklan dan keuangan krisis dalam jurnalisme pada media cetak, dekade terakhir telah membawa pengurangan yang signifikan ke banyak ruang redaksi di seluruh dunia. Departemen editorial, banyak di antaranya telah direstrukturisasi menjadi ruang redaksi terintegrasi, menghadapi tantangan memproduksi lebih banyak konten untuk berbagai saluran sambil mempekerjakan lebih sedikit jurnalis. Para editor ini bertanggung jawab untuk meningkatkan lalu lintas keseluruhan konten editorial dan mengidentifikasi topik yang sedang tren yang cenderung mendorong lalu lintas, sering kali melalui pengoptimalan mesin telusur (SEO) dan pengoptimalan media sosial (SMO). Atas dasar itulah, kemudian media Jabar Ekspres yang memang sejak awal merupakan media cetak/koran, kemudian mengembangkan media online dengan merekrut editor atau disebut dengan Ketua Kelas dan banyak konten writer, namun mereka juga tetap tidak meninggalkan produk jurnalistik di media cetak/koran. Pendekatan penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif dengan pendekatan Etnografi Media. Menurut Bogdan dan Taylor (1973), penelitian kualitiatif adalah prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif, ucapan atau tulisan, dan perilaku yang dapat diamati dari subjek itu sendiri. Pendekatan ini langsung menunjukan setting dan individu-individu dalam setting itu secara keseluruhan. Subjek studi baik berupa lembaga, organisasi, atau individu tidak dipersempit menjadi variable yang terpisah atau menjadi hipotesis, tetapi dipandang sebagai bagian dari suatu keseluruhan (holistic) (Bungin, 2011) Ada 5 jenis konten yang diproduksi oleh para Konten Writer di Jabar Ekspres. Kelima jenis konten ini wajib ditulis oleh Konten Writer untuk memenuhi kewajiban sehari 10 tulisan. Jenis-jenis konten tersebut ialah Konten Evergreen, Konten Viral, Konten Peminatan, Konten Kompetitor, dan Konten Niche. Sumber tulisan yang diproduksi oleh konten writer bisa didapat dari media sosial seperti Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, hingga YouTube. Bahkan dari website lain yang kredibel seperti website kementrian dan instansi pemerintahan daerah, namun tidak diperkenankan dari website media kompetitor. Dari tematema tulisan soal finansial ini pula, Website jabarekspres.com meraup banyak uang dari hasil adsense google.
