Abstract
Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc) is a pathogenic fungus that causes fusarium wilt disease on banana plants. The Foc Tropical Race 4 (TR4) appeared which was stronger and resistant to pesticides, banana plant cultivar could not be used as a natural enemy of Foc TR4. This research aims to detect the presence of endophytic bacteria derived from the roots of Putri Malu plants (Mimosa pudica L.), the antagonistic potential of endophytic bacteria in inhibiting the growth of fusarium will be analyzed and the macroscopic characteristics of endophyte bacteria will be described. This research uses a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design with five treatments, CP0 (negative control), CPF0 (positive control), and an endophytic bacteria isolate of Mimosa pudica L. (BEP5, BEP8, and BEP15) and four repetitions. The obtained bacteria isolate was tested in vitro with the dual culture method. The results showed that the three isolates of endophytic bacteria were able to inhibit the growth of fusarium in 1-5 Days After Inoculation, with the highest percentage of inhibition including BEP5 37,122%, BEP8 36,601%, and BEP15 37,522%. The result shows that endophytic bacteria derived from mimosa plant roots can potentially be biological control agents.
