Abstract

Banten Province is one of the provinces that produce rice abundantly on a national scale. The rice production consists of landrace and Gogo varieties. Banten Province is known to have a rich diversity of local rice, especially gogo rice. Banten local rice has been reported to have various advantages, such as resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Many studies demonstrated that the increase of resistance in local rice is due to their association with endophytic fungi. However, information on the diversity of endophytic fungi associated with local rice in Banten has never been reported. This study aimed to determine the diversity of endophytic fungi in local rice plants from Banten. Samples were collected in 3 subdistricts, namely Anyer, Rangkasbitung and Leuwidamar. In total, 8 local rice varieties were identified: Kewal Bulu Hideung, Ketan Cae, Limar, Guling, Siang, Cokrom, Ketan Ruyung and Ketan Langgasari. Plant roots, stems, and leaves were used as the source of isolation of endophytic fungi. Samples were plated onto PDA (Potato Dextrose Agar). Fifteen fungal isolates were obtained from isolation: six isolates from leaves, five from roots, and four from stems. Endophytic fungi isolates were identified based on their morphological characters, including macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Limar and Guling have the highest and most diverse of endophytic fungi, three isolates each varieties. Seven genera were identified from those isolates: Chaetomium, Circinella, Curvularia, Fusarium, Lichtheimia, Phialocephala, and Paecilomyces. The results of this research were implemented into an encyclopedia book that can be used as a learning source for high school student grade X on the topic of Fungi. Additional Information: Provinsi Banten merupakan salah satu lumbung beras nasional dengjumlah produksi padi yang tinggi. Produksi padi tersebut terdiri dari padi sawdan padi ladang (padi gogo). Provinsi Banten kaya akan keragaman padi lokaterutama padi gogo. Padi lokal Banten memiliki berbagai keunggulan, sasatunya adalah tahan terhadap cekaman biotik maupun abiotik. Berbapenelitian yang telah dilakukan mengindikasikan bahwa salah satu faktor yameningkatkan ketahanan padi lokal adalah karena adanya asosiasi dengan fungendofit. Namun, informasi keragaman fungi endofit yang berasosiasi dengan palokal Banten belum pernah dilaporkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetakeragaman fungi endofit pada tanaman padi lokal Banten. Sampel tanamdiambil di 3 lokasi yaitu Kecamatan Anyer, Kecamatan Rangkasbitung Kecamatan Leuwidamar. Total 8 jenis padi lokal Banten yang dikoleksi yaitu paKewal Bulu Hideung, Ketan Cae, Limar, Guling, Siang, Cokrom, Ketan Ruyundan Ketan Langgasari. Bagian tanaman yang digunakan sebagai sumber isoladalah akar, batang dan daun. Sampel tanaman ditanam pada media PDA (PotDextrose Agar). Hasil isolasi diperoleh 15 isolat fungi endofit: 6 isolat beradari daun, 5 isolat dari akar dan 4 isolat dari batang. Identifikasi fungi berdasarkakarakter morfologinya baik makroskopis maupun mikroskopis. Padi Limar Padi Guling memiliki jumlah fungi endofit yang paling banyak dan beragamasing-masing 3 isolat. Hasil identifikasi diperoleh 7 genus fungi endofit, yaChaetomium, Circinella, Curvularia, Fusarium, Lichtheimia, Phialocephala Paecilomyces. Hasil penelitian diimplementasikan ke dalam buku ensiklopeyang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber belajar siswa SMA kelas X pada maFungi.
