Abstract

The objective of this research is to comprehend the application of Interactive Conceptual Instruction (ICI) Learning Model toward the students’ communication skill on ecosystem concept. The used method is quasi experiment with the research design on Randomized Control Group Only. The research was conducted in SMAN 8 Kota Serang at class X semester 1 in 2015-2016. The population of the research was all the students of class X at SMAN 8 Kota Serang. The sample of the research was experimental class and determined controlled class with the technique of simple random sampling. The data of the research was obtained by giving the students’ communicative written test., in the form of essay test and the test of oral communication, with the use of observation sheets. The result of data analysis was obtained at 95% (α = 0,05) reliability t test. It indicated that there is a difference between experimental and controlled class. Students’ oral communication skill on controlled class was obtained at average value of 55,5% and on experiment class was 76,5%. Students’ written communication skill on controlled class was obtained at average value of 27% and on experimental class was 50,5%. It means that there is a significant influence of Interactive Conceptual Instruction (ICI) Learning Model toward the skill of students’ communication.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Interactive Conceptual Instruction (ICI) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi siswa pada konsep ekosistem. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Randomized Control Group Only. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 8 Kota Serang kelas X semester 1 tahun ajaran 2015- 2016. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas X SMAN 8 Kota Serang dengan sampel penelitian yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang ditentukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi tulisan berupa soal uraian dan tes kemampuan komunikasi lisan berupa lembar observasi. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji t dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% (α = 0,05) menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kemampuan komunikasi lisan siswa pada kelas kontrol memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 55,5% dan pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 76,5%. Kemampuan komunikasi tulisan siswa pada kelas kontrol memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 27% dan pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 50,5%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Interactive Conceptual Instruction (ICI) berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi siswa.
