Abstract
Neurodivergent is a non-medical term coined by autism activist Kassiane Asasumasu in 1999 to describe individual with different brain conditions. One of the conditions that falls into this category is Autism Spectrum Disorder. The aim of this research is to understand the perspective of autistic adult in Jakarta towards neurodivergent, including it’s origins, point of view, regular utilization, and the xpectations towards the surroundings regarding their neurodivergent identity. The writer used a qualitative research with case study method, with the help of primary informant, SN, an autistic adult residing in Central Jakarta, and was accompanied by a supporting informant, Jewel, a moderator from the Pemuda Autisme Indonesia, an Indonesian online autism and disabilities community. Through a series of both offline and online observations and interviews, it was found that SN, as a Jakartan autistic adult, possessed a comprehensive understanding and effective utilization of their neurodivergent identity related to their autism experience.

| Additional Information: | Neurodivergen merupakan istilah nonmedis untuk menyebutkan orang-orang dengan kondisi otak yang berbeda pada umumnya. Istilah ini dicetuskan oleh aktivis autisme, Kassiane Asasumasu pada 1999. Salah satu kondisi otak yang berbeda yaitu Gangguan Spektrum Autisme. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami identitas neurodivergen pada individu autistik dewasa di Jakarta yaitu asal mula dalam mengetahui istilah neurodivergen, pandangan terhadap istilah neurodivergen, penggunaan istilah neurodivergen dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta harapan kepada lingkungan terkait identitas neurodivergen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus bersama informan utama SN, yaitu autistik dewasa yang berdomisili di Jakarta Pusat, didukung informan pendukung Jewel yaitu moderator komunitas Pemuda Autisme Indonesia, sebuah komunitas online autisme dan disabilitas berbahasa Indonesia. Dengan serangkaian observasi dan wawancara luar jaringan maupun dalam jaringan, diketahui bahwa identitas neurodivergen dipahami dan dipergunakan dengan baik sekaligus menjadi bagian dari pengalaman autistik bagi informan utama SN sebagai individu autistik dewasa di Jakarta. | |||||||||
