Abstract
Siamese catfish have strong cultivation prospects due to their high market value, but high artificial feed costs, partly due to reliance on imported raw materials, pose challenges. To overcome this problem, alternatives like watermelon seed meal have been explored. This study evaluated the digestibility performance of siamese catfish fed a diet based on watermelon seed meal. The experiment was conducted in the Fishery Cultivation Laboratory using Siamese catfish fry with an average weight of 7,07±0,43 g, kept in aquariums (70 x 30 x 30 cm3). The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatment levels and four replications: control feed, feed with pressed watermelon seed flour, and feed with unpressed watermelon seed flour. The results showed that treatment with a control feed had the highest total digestibility, non-pressed watermelon seed meal had the highest protein and fat digestibility, and pressed watermelon seed meal treatment had the highest energy digestibility. Statistically, significant differences were found in fat digestibility (p < 0.05), but no significant differences were observed in total, protein, and energy digestibility (p > 0.05).

Additional Information: | Ikan patin siam memiliki prospek budidaya yang baik karena harga yang tinggi, namun permasalahan utama adalah biaya tinggi pakan buatan akibat ketergantungan pada bahan baku impor. Sebagai alternatif, tepung biji semangka digunakan sebagai bahan baku lokal dalam pakan ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja kecernaan ikan patin siam yang diberi pakan berbasis tepung biji semangka. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Budidaya Perikanan dengan benih ikan patin siam rata-rata berbobot 7,07 ± 0,43 g, yang dipelihara di akuarium berukuran (70 x 30 x 30 cm3). Metode eksperimen yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah pakan acuan, pakan dengan tepung biji semangka yang dipress, dan pakan dengan tepung biji semangka yang tidak dipress. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pakan acuan menghasilkan kecernaan total tertinggi, pakan dengan tepung biji semangka yang tidak dipress menghasilkan kecernaan protein dan lemak tertinggi, sementara pakan dengan tepung biji semangka yang dipress menghasilkan kecernaan energi tertinggi. Secara statistik, terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kecernaan lemak (P < 0,05), tetapi tidak pada kecernaan total, protein, dan energi (P > 0,05). | |||||||||
