Abstract
This study aims to uncover the indigenous knowledge in the weaving culture of the Baduy Tribe through the Banten Physics Education Documentary, a documentary film that integrates local cultural values with physics concepts. This research employs a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design. Qualitative data were collected through interviews and observations, while quantitative data were obtained through tensile and stiffness tests conducted in a laboratory. The results reveal that indigenous knowledge in the Baduy weaving process involves physics principles tensile stress, strain, Young’s modulus, and friction force which are intuitively applied by the artisans. Laboratory analysis indicates that the woven fabric has a tensile strength and a bending modulus reflecting good fabric elasticity. This study highlights the relevance of local culture to physics concepts and the importance of integrating indigenous knowledge into physics curricula to enhance contextual and relevant learning. The final outcome of the study, a documentary film, is expected to serve as an educational reference and an effort to preserve the culture of the Baduy Tribe.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap indigenous knowledge pada budaya tenun kain Suku Baduy melalui Banten Physics Education Documentary, sebuah film dokumenter yang memadukan nilai-nilai budaya lokal dengan konsep fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed methods) dengan desain exploratory sequential. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi, sedangkan data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui uji tarik-mulur dan kekakuan kain di laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indigenous knowledge dalam proses tenun kain Baduy melibatkan prinsip fisika seperti tegangan tarik, regangan, modulus elastisitas, serta gaya gesek yang diaplikasikan secara intuitif oleh pengrajin. Analisis laboratorium mengungkapkan kain tenun memiliki kekuatan tarik dan modulus lengkung yang menunjukkan elastisitas kain yang baik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan relevansi budaya lokal dengan konsep fisika, serta pentingnya integrasi indigenous knowledge ke dalam kurikulum fisika untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran yang kontekstual dan relevan. Hasil akhir penelitian berupa film dokumenter diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi pendidikan sekaligus upaya pelestarian budaya Suku Baduy. | |||||||||
