Abstract

Air pollution caused by capitalist activities such as factories and industries has had a negative impact on the health of the surrounding community, especially housewives who feel oppressed by the domination of capital. Based on Laclau and Mouffe's radical democracy theory, this research analyses the phenomenon through three main indicators, namely hegemony, antagonism, and agonistic. The research uses the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method to understand the discourse formed in society. The results showed that there is a hegemony formed from the ‘Ibu Peduli’ group which is seen as a threat by capital. Forms of resistance, such as demonstrations, illustrate the antagonism between society and capital. The results of this study show that the transformation of collective action by mothers in Ciwandan District, both in the Lijajar and Cigading areas, developed from a spontaneous reaction to the impact of environmental pollution into a more organized and sustainable movement.

Pencemaran udara akibat aktivitas kapitalis seperti pabrik dan industri telah memberikan dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan masyarakat sekitar, terutama kalangan ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang merasa tertindas oleh dominasi kapital. Berdasarkan teori demokrasi radikal Laclau dan Mouffe, penelitian ini menganalisis fenomena tersebut melalui tiga indikator utama, yaitu hegemoni, antagonisme, dan agonistik. Penelitian menggunakan metode Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) untuk memahami wacana yang terbentuk di masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hegemoni yang terbentuk dari kelompok "Ibu Peduli" yang dipandang sebagai ancaman oleh pihak kapital. Bentuk-bentuk perlawanan seperti aksi demonstrasi, menggambarkan adanya antagonisme antara masyarakat dan kapital. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa transformasi aksi kolektif ibu-ibu di Kecamatan Ciwandan, baik di Lingkungan Lijajar maupun Cigading, berkembang dari reaksi spontan terhadap dampak pencemaran lingkungan menjadi gerakan yang lebih terorganisir dan berkelanjutan.
