Abstract
This study was conducted to explore the potential of Dark Septate Endophyte (DSE) fungi as bioremediation agents for batik liquid waste. DSE fungi were isolated from mangrove roots and tested for their ability to decolourize and reduce the toxicity of batik liquid waste. Fungi were grown using PDA media with a mixture of waste to test their potential by measuring the decolourization index, growth rate and tolerance rate of fungi to waste, and on PDB waste media to test the percentage of decolourization using the spectrophotometric method. Waste that had been treated with DSE fungi was measured for its toxicity reduction through the phytotoxicity test method against green beans (Vigna radiata). The results showed that CEM6 was a superior fungus with a tolerance ability to waste of 119.09%, a decolourization ability of 73.20%, and germination ability of 66.67%. In this study, the ability of fungi to decolourize waste did not always reflect their ability to degrade toxic compounds. These findings indicate that DSE fungi have the potential to be environmental bioremediation agents. This research can be integrated into digital and conventional learning content for high school biology subjects, especially in the material on environmental change.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi potensi fungi Dark Septate Endophyte (DSE) sebagai agen bioremediasi limbah cair batik. Fungi DSE diisolasi dari akar tanaman bakau dan diuji kemampuannya dalam mendekolorisasi warna dan mengurangi toksisitas limbah cair batik. Fungi ditumbuhkan menggunakan media PDA dengan campuran limbah untuk diuji potensinya dengan mengukur indeks dekolorisasi, laju pertumbuhan juga laju toleransi fungi terhadap limbah, serta pada media PDB limbah untuk diuji persentase dekolorisasi dengan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri. Limbah yang telah diberi perlakuan fungi DSE diukur pengurangan toksisitasnya melalui metode uji fitotoksisitas terhadap kacang hijau (Vigna radiata). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa CEM6 adalah fungi yang unggul dengan kemampuan toleransi terhadap limbah sebesar 119,09%, kemampuan dekolorisasi sebesar 73,20%, dan kemampuan germinasi sebesar 66,67%. Dalam penelitian ini, kemampuan fungi mendekolorisasi limbah tidak selalu mencerminkan kemampuannya mendegradasi senyawa toksik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa fungi DSE berpotensi untuk menjadi agen bioremediasi lingkungan. Penelitian ini dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam konten pembelajaran digital maupun konvensional mata pelajaran biologi SMA khususnya pada materi perubahan lingkungan. | ||||||||||||
