Abstract
This research is motivated by the issues observed in the field, specifically at SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta, where there is one first-grade student with special needs exhibiting aggressive behavior by hitting. This behavior is attributed to the limited methods employed to address the child's aggression, such as verbal reprimands, which have not been effective in mitigating the aggressive behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method in reducing aggressive behavior in first-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. This study employs a quantitative approach with a Single Subject Research (SSR) experimental method, utilizing an A-B-A design. The session range includes a baseline phase – 1 (A1) consisting of 8 sessions, an intervention phase (B) of 16 sessions, and a baseline – 2 (A2) of 8 sessions, each lasting 30 minutes. The subject of this research is one first-grade student with intellectual disabilities at SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation methods. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in tables and graphs. Based on the results of the study, the use of the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method can effectively reduce aggressive hitting behavior in children with intellectual disabilities. This is evidenced by the observed decrease in scores during each phase and session. Therefore, the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method may serve as an alternative approach to reduce aggressive behavior in children with intellectual disabilities.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang ada di lapangan yaitu di SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta dimana terdapat satu orang anak kelas satu SDLB yang berperilaku agresif memukul, yang disebabkan oleh terbatasnya metode yang digunakan dalam menangani perilaku agresif anak tersebut, seperti dengan cara menegur secara verbal, namun upaya tersebut belum optimal dalam mengatasi perilaku agresif pada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan metode differential reinforcement of alternative behavior dalam menurunkan perilaku agresif anak tunagrahita kelas I SDLB di SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen Single Subject Research (SSR) dan desain yang digunakan yaitu A – B – A dengan rentang sesi yaitu fase baseline – 1 (A1) sebanyak 8 sesi, intervensi (B) sebanyak 16 sesi, dan baseline – 2 (A2) sebanyak 8 sesi yang dilaksanakan selama 30 menit/sesi. Subjek penelitian ini merupakan satu orang siswa anak tunagrahita kelas I SDLB di SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif yang disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan penggunaan metode differential reinforcement of alternative behavior dapat menurunkan perilaku agresif memukul pada anak tunagrahita. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari perolehan skor yang mengalami penurunan pada setiap fase dan sesinya. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan metode differential reinforcement of alternative behavior dapat menjadi metode alternatif yang dapat digunakan dalam upaya menurunkan perilaku agresif pada anak tunagrahita. | |||||||||
