Abstract

Campus organic waste in the form of dry leaves could be increased in value by being made into compost. This research aimed to determine the use of campus organic waste as a compost for pakchoy (Brassica rapa L.) growth. The facts from this research were applied as content recommendations for P5 project module on sustainable lifestyles theme. An experimental method was used with a completely randomized research design (CRD) with four treatment levels and two repetitions. The treatments in this study consisted P0- (100 mL raw water), P0+ (60 g of instant compost fertilizer), P1 (60 g of campus organic waste compost fertilizer), and P2 (80 g of campus organic waste compost fertilizer) with 6 samples respectively. The measurement parameters measured include leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, plant height, root length, fresh weight, dry weight, and chlorophyll levels. Measurements were carried out using a ruler, analytical balance and oven. The results showed that the growth of pakchoy plants with campus organic waste compost had better results than the control treatment. However, based on the results of statistical tests, it did not show any effect of fertilizer application. Furthermore, these facts of research activities could be used as recommendations for project module content on sustainable lifestyle theme activities, such as making organic fertilizer from school waste, cultivating plants with compost provision, and observing plant growth.

Additional Information: Sampah organik kampus berupa daun kering dapat ditingkatkan nilai gunanya dengan dibuat menjadi pupuk kompos. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan sampah organik kampus sebagai pupuk kompos terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) yang selanjutnya fakta-fakta hasil penelitian diaplikasikan sebagai rekomendasi konten modul proyek P5 pada tema gaya hidup berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu eksperimen dengan desain penelitian rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat taraf perlakuan dan dua kali pengulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari P0-(100 mL air baku), P0+ (60 g pupuk kompos instan), P1 (60 g pupuk kompos sampah organik kampus), dan P2 (80 g pupuk kompos sampah organik kampus) dengan masing-masing 6 sampel. Parameter pengamatan yang diukur meliputi panjang daun, lebar daun, jumlah daun, tinggi tanaman, panjang akar, berat basah, berat kering, dan kadar klorofil. Pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan penggaris, timbangan analitik, dan oven. Hasil rata-rata pertumbuhan tanaman menunjukkan pertumbuhan tanaman pakcoy yang diberi perlakuan pupuk kompos sampah organik kampus memiliki hasil yang lebih baik daripada perlakuan kontrol. Meskipun, berdasarkan hasil uji statistik belum menunjukkan adanya pengaruh pemberian pupuk. Lebih lanjut, rangkaian kegiatan penelitian ini dapat dijadikan rekomendasi konten modul proyek pada tema gaya hidup berkelanjutan dengan melakukan kegiatan berupa memanfaatkan sampah organik di sekolah menjadi pupuk, budi daya tanaman dengan pengaplikasian pupuk kompos, dan mengamati pertumbuhan tanaman.
