Abstract
Culture-based tourism is increasingly in demand as it is able to offer authentic experiences that introduce travelers to the richness of local heritage. The Outer Baduy area, rich in cultural values and local wisdom, is one such emerging destination. However, this area does not yet have an effective sign system, so tourists often experience difficulties in navigating the area. This research aims to determine and map the location point of the sign system placement and design a local heritage-based sign system design in the Outer Baduy area. The research method used is literature study, observation, and interview to understand the needs of the location, as well as design elements that are in harmony with the culture of the Outer Baduy community. The result of this research is 22 locations of sign system placement, which consists of identification signs (village name, leuit, and bridge), direction signs (directions to certain locations and directions at road intersections), warning signs (travel field warnings) and regulatory & prohibitory signs (appeals to cleanliness). The sign system design is designed by incorporating leuit elements and Baduy batik hariang ornaments as a typical representation of local culture, as well as using a natural color palette found in the daily life of the Outer Baduy Tribe. The implementation of this design is expected to support cultural preservation and facilitate navigation for visitors in exploring the Outer Baduy Area.

| Additional Information: | Pariwisata berbasis budaya semakin diminati karena mampu menawarkan pengalaman otentik yang memperkenalkan wisatawan pada kekayaan warisan lokal. Kawasan Baduy Luar, yang kaya akan nilai budaya dan kearifan lokal, menjadi salah satu destinasi yang sedang berkembang. Namun, kawasan ini belum memiliki sistem penunjuk arah (sign system) yang efektif, sehingga wisatawan kerap mengalami kesulitan dalam menavigasi area tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan dan memetakan titik lokasi penempatan sign system serta merancang desain sign system berbasis local heritage di kawasan Baduy Luar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa studi literatur, observasi, dan wawancara untuk memahami kebutuhan lokasi, serta elemen desain yang selaras dengan budaya masyarakat Baduy Luar. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan 22 titik lokasi penempatan sign system, yang terdiri dari identification signs (nama kampung, leuit, dan jembatan), direction signs (petunjuk menuju lokasi tertentu dan petunjuk di persimpangan jalan), warning signs (peringatan medan perjalanan) dan regulatory & prohibitory signs (himbauan terhadap kebersihan). Desain sign system dirancang dengan memasukkan unsur leuit dan ornamen batik Hariang Baduy sebagai representasi khas budaya lokal, serta menggunakan palet warna alami yang terdapat di keseharian Suku Baduy Luar. Implementasi desain ini diharapkan dapat mendukung kelestarian budaya dan mempermudah navigasi bagi pengunjung dalam menjelajahi Kawasan Baduy Luar. | |||||||||
