Abstract

This research was aimed to know the effect of organic priming materials and soaking time on the viability and vegetative growth phase of expired eggplant seed (Solanum melongena L.). This research was carried out from May until July 2024 at the Greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was the type of organic priming material, which consists of 3 levels namely B0 (Control), B1 (Coconut water solution 30% concentration) and B2 (Tomato extract solution 30% concentration). The second factor was soaking time of organic priming solution, which consists of 3 levels namely L1 (Soaking time 1 hour), L2 (Soaking time 2 hours), and L3 (Soaking time 3 hours). The combination of the two factors was repeated four times, so that 36 experimental units are obtained. The result showed that coconut water with a concentration of 30% (B1) gave the best effect on the parameters of germination percentage (50.67%), plant height (4.67 cm) and number of leaves (3.56 strands). Soaking time of 2 hour (L2) gave the best effect on the parameters of germination percentage (49.00%), plant height (4.50 cm) and number of leaves (3.67 strands). There was interaction between the type of organic priming material and soaking time on the germination percentage parameters and plant height parameters.

Additional Information: Terung ungu (Solanum melongena L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas sayuran yang berperan penting sebagai bahan pangan masyarakat Indonesia, diketahui bahwa produksinya belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi terung ungu penduduk Indonesia. Salah satu faktor masalah produktivitas terung ungu di Indonesia yaitu rendahnya mutu benih. Rendahnya mutu benih berkaitan dengan penurunan viabilitas benih yang disebabkan oleh benih telah mengalami kedaluwarsa. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Juli 2024, di Greenhouse Jurusan Agroekoteknologi, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari dua faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis bahan organic priming, yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu B0 (Kontrol), B1 (Larutan air kelapa konsentrasi 30%) dan B2 (Larutan ekstrak tomat konsentrasi 30%). Faktor kedua yaitu lama perendaman larutan organic priming, yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu L1 (Lama perendaman larutan organic priming selama 1 jam), L2 (Lama perendaman larutan organic priming selama 2 jam) dan L3 (Lama perendaman larutan organic priming selama 3 jam). Kombinasi pada kedua faktor tersebut diulang sebanyak 4 kali, sehingga diperoleh 36 unit satuan percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan air kelapa konsentrasi 30% (B1) memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap parameter persentase daya berkecambah (50,67%), tinggi tanaman (4,67 cm) dan jumlah daun (3,56 helai). Lama perendaman 2 jam memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap parameter persentase daya berkecambah (49,00%), tinggi tanaman (4,50 cm) dan jumlah daun (3,67 helai). Terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan jenis bahan organic priming dan lama perendaman terhadap parameter persentase daya berkecambah dan parameter tinggi tanaman.
