Abstract

This research was conducted at SMP N 4 Kota Searng in the academic year 2018/2019 which aimed to see the effect of problem based learning to student’s matematical communication ability and self-regulated learning. The method used in this research is method of combination (mixed method) whit incorporation of Quantitative-qualitative and concurrent embedded design. The study involved two classes of experimental class and control class. The population of this research is all students in grade VII SMP N 4 Kota Serang. Sample were class VII I an control class and VII E an experimental class. The instrument used in this study of matematical communication ability tes instrument, non-test instruments in the form of scale of self regulated learning, observation sheets, interview guides, documentation as well as the researchers itself. The result of the study concludes that ultimate achievement and increase the matematical communication ability experimental class is better than the control class, the ultimate achievement and increase self-regulated learning experimental class is not better than the control class. It shows that there is a effect of problem based learning on student’s mathematical communication ability and then is on effect of problem based learning on student’s self concept.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 4 Kota Serang tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-regulated learning siswa. Metode penelitaian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kombinasi (mixed method) dengan model penggabungan KUAN-kual dan desain concurrent embedded design. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelas yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi penelitian ini adalah kelas seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Kota Serang. Sampel Penelitian ini adalah kelas VII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII I sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, instrumen non tes berupa skala self-regulated learning, lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dokumentasi serta peneliti itu sendiri. Hasil penelitian memberikan kesimpulan bahwa pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari pada kelas kontrol, pencapaian dan peningkatan self-regulated learning siswa kelas eksperimen tidak lebih baik dari kelas kontrol. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan tidak terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning dengan self-regulated learning siswa.
