Abstract

Safety and health in the work environment are the main factors that must be considered in every job. This study was conducted to evaluate the excavator assembly area at PT Komatsu Indonesia, which is the longest assembly area in the assembly plant. This study focuses on potential hazards that may interfere with the production process and worker activities, with the aim of improving comfort and work safety. The method used is an evaluation of the work environment through ergonomic checkpoints, supported by qualitative data from questionnaires analyzed using a Likert scale. The results show that the workstation design in the sub trackframe area requires improvement because the non-ergonomic work posture causes fatigue and risk of injury to workers. Using the rational method, this study proposes a new table design to overcome the problems found in the results of the ergonomic checkpoint (in the work area). The assessment of work posture before improvement showed a high risk with a score of 7, while after improvement the risk decreased to low with a score of 3 according to the rapid upper limb assessment method using CATIA V5R17 software. This study contributes to improving safety and ergonomics in the workplace, as well as providing a method for companies to identify and fix ergonomic problems in the work environment.

Additional Information: Keselamatan dan kesehatan pada lingkungan kerja merupakan faktor utama yang harus diperhatikan dalam tiap pekerjaan, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi area perakitan excavator di PT Komatsu Indonesia yang merupakan area perakitan terpanjang di pabrik assembling. Penelitian ini berfokus pada potensi bahaya yang mungkin menggangu proses produksi dan aktivitas pekerja, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kenyamanan dan keselamatan kerja. Metode yang digunakan adalah evaluasi lingkungan kerja melalui ergonomic checkpoint, didukung dengan data kualitatif dari kuesioner yang dianalisis menggunakan skala likert. Hasil menunjukan bahwa workstation design pada area sub trackframe memerlukan perbaikan karena postur kerja yang tidak ergonomis menyebabkan kelelahan dan risiko cedera pada pekerja. Menggunakan metode rasional, penelitian ini mengusulkan perancangan desain meja baru untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang terdapat pada hasil ergonomic checkpoint (pada area kerja). Penilaian postur kerja sebelum perbaikan menunjukkan risiko tinggi dengan skor 7, sementara setelah usulan perbaikan, risiko berkurang menjadi rendah dengan skor 3 menurut metode rapid upper limb assessment menggunakan software CATIA V5R17. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada peningkatan keselamatan dan ergonomi di tempat kerja, serta memberikan salah satu metode bagi perusahaan dalam mengidentifikasi dan memperbaiki masalah ergonomi di lingkungan kerja.
