Abstract
National corn production fluctuates annually. Despite significant national production, high demand causes Indonesia to still import corn. Corn shortages often occur due to factors like drought or global warming, which reduce average rainfall. This conditioncan cause drought stress and threatening the national corn production. Recently, efforts to address drought stress include using PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) as growth-promoting hormones, and drought stress tolerance. This study aims to identify the characteristics of each droughtresistant bacterial isolate from East Nusa Tenggara in the BRIN collection and the agronomic response of corn plants (Zea mays L.) after the application of a consortium of drought-resistant bacteria from East Nusa Tenggara. This research was conducted in the Research Greenhouse, Genetic Engineering Laboratory, and Applied Microbiology Laboratory of BRIN Cibinong from November 2023 to February 2024. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with factors and qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results showed that the drought-resistant bacteria in the BRIN collection have characteristics such as nitrogen fixation, production of IAA hormone, catalase enzyme, and ACC deaminase enzyme. The application of the bacterial consortium affected parameters such as the wet weight and dry weight of the shoot, wet weight and dry weight of the roots, wet weight and dry weight of the cobs, and the proline and malondialdehyde content of the plants’ tissue. Providing a water content of 65% had a good effect on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, wet weight and dry weight of the crown and malondialdehyde content of corn plants at 12 WAP.

Additional Information: | Produksi jagung nasional mengalami fluktuasi setiap tahunnya. Meski produksi jagung nasional cukup besar, kebutuhan yang tinggi menyebabkan Indonesia masih harus mengimpor jagung. Kekurangan produksi jagung salah satunya terjadi karena faktor kekeringan atau pemanasan global yang mengakibatkan curah hujan rata-rata menjadi menurun dan bisa memicu cekaman kekeringan. Belakangan, dikembangkan upaya untuk menghadapi cekaman kekeringan di pertanian jagung yaitu dengan menggunakan PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) sebagai penstimulus hormon pertumbuhan dan toleransi terhadap cekaman kekeringan di tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui karakter dari isolat bakteri tahan kering asal Nusa Tenggara Timur koleksi BRIN dan respon agronomi tanaman jagung (Zea mays L.) setelah pemberian konsorsium bakteri tahan kering asal Nusa Tenggara Timur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di fasilitas Greenhouse Riset, Laboratorium Rekayasa Genetika dan Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Terapan BRIN Cibinong pada bulan November 2023 s/d Februari 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dua faktor dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bakteri tahan kering koleksi BRIN mempunyai karakter yaitu mampu mengikat nitrogen, memproduksi hormon IAA, enzim katalase dan enzim ACC deaminase. Pemberian konsorsium bakteri juga berpengaruh terhadap; parameter bobot basah dan bobot kering tajuk, bobot basah dan bobot kering akar bobot basah dan bobot kering tongkol, kandungan prolin dan malondialdehyde tanaman. Pemberian kadar air 65% berpengaruh baik terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, bobot basah dan bobot kering tajuk dan kandungan malondialdehyde tanaman jagung pada 12 MST. | |||||||||
