Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics, feasibility, and student responses to learning materials that raise socio-scientific issues (Socio-Scientific Issues/SSI) in the context of energy sources. In this study, teaching materials were developed through a reconstruction process. The method used was modified research and development (R&D), which consisted of three phases: research and initial information collection, product planning and development by adopting the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER), and limited trials. The teaching materials that will be developed with the SSI context on energy source material have several main characteristics. Among them, this teaching material is designed based on SSI learning, each section in the sub-chapter is presented in a relevant context, and is equipped with its front page, introductory structure, final section, and additional reading list. The results of the validation and assessment of the teaching materials showed that the average percentage of the value obtained was 92.29%. This figure reflects that overall, teaching materials with the SSI concept on energy source material are included in the "very good" category and meet the criteria required by the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP). In addition, students' responses to the teaching materials were also very positive, with a percentage reaching 87.49%, which was also categorized as "very good".

Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi karakteristik, kelayakan, dan respons siswa terhadap materi pembelajaran yang mengangkat isu-isu sosial-sains (Socio-Scientific Issues/SSI) dalam konteks sumber energi. Dalam penelitian ini, bahan ajar dikembangkan melalui proses rekonstruksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) yang dimodifikasi, yang terdiri dari tiga fase: penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi awal, perencanaan dan pengembangan produk dengan mengadopsi model rekonstruksi pendidikan (Model of Educational Reconstruction/MER), serta uji coba terbatas. Bahan ajar yang akan dikembangkan dengan konteks SSI pada materi sumber energi memiliki beberapa karakteristik utama. Di antaranya, bahan ajar ini dirancang berdasarkan pembelajaran SSI, setiap bagian dalam subbab disajikan dalam konteks yang relevan, serta dilengkapi dengan halaman depannya, struktur pendahuluan, bagian akhir, dan daftar bacaan tambahan. Hasil validasi dan penilaian terhadap bahan ajar menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persentase nilai yang diperoleh adalah 92,29%. Angka ini mencerminkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, bahan ajar yang berkonsep SSI pada materi sumber energi tergolong dalam kategori “sangat baik” dan memenuhi kriteria yang disyaratkan oleh Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan (BSNP). Selain itu, respons siswa terhadap bahan ajar juga sangat positif, dengan persentase mencapai 87,49%, yang juga dikategorikan sebagai “sangat baik”.
