Abstract
The Rebo Wekasan tradition is a cultural heritage preserved by the people of Karundang Tengah Hamlet. This tradition is a ritual to reject evil which is carried out every year on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar. In the midst of technological developments, Karundang Tengah Hamlet remains consistent in implementing the Rebo Wekasan tradition. This research aims to examine Communication Ethnography and the meaning of tradition using a qualitative approach and constructivism paradigm. This research uses symbolic interaction theory to reveal meaning. Primary data was obtained by observation and interviewing five residents of Karundang Tengah Hamlet who were involved in the Rebo Wekasan tradition and one supporting informant from Bantenology, as well as secondary data obtained through documentation studies and observation. The results of the research show that (1) The communicative situation of the Rebo Wekasan Tradition in Karunjung Tengah Hamlet includes the implementation of rituals in the Al- Hidayah Prayer Room and residents' yards for the dudusan ritual. Ustadz Baedhawi guides the religious rituals, while Ibu Masitoh and the team guide the dudusan rituals (2). Communicative events in the Rebo Wekasan tradition include requests, prayers and greetings. The topic is a request for protection from danger, safety and blessings for society. This tradition aims to ask for protection and blessings from Allah SWT and strengthen friendship. Held on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar at the Al-Hidayah prayer room and residents' yards, with the participation of all the people of Karundang Tengah Hamlet and residents of other villages. Verbal and nonverbal messages focus on protection, safety, and blessing. The sequence of actions includes prayers to reject reinforcements, joint prayer, celebration, and sitting. Interaction rules use clear and meaningful language, and interaction norms include politeness, etiquette and etiquette during traditions. (3) Communicative acts include verbal and nonverbal interactions during traditions. This tradition is interpreted as a means of rejecting evil, as a deep-rooted ancestral heritage, the community feels responsible for preserving it.

| Additional Information: | Tradisi Rebo Wekasan merupakan warisan budaya yang dilestarikan masyarakat Dusun Karundang Tengah, tradisi ini merupakan ritual tolak bala yang dilaksanakan setiap tahunnya pada Rabu terakhir di bulan Safar. Di tengah perkembangan teknologi, Dusun Karundang Tengah tetap konsisten melaksanakan tradisi Rebo Wekasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji Etnografi Komunikasi dan makna tradisi dengan pendekatan kualitatif, metode Etnografi Komunikasi dan paradigma konstruktivisme, penelitian ini menggunakan teori interaksionisme simbolik untuk mengungkap makna. Data primer diperoleh dengan observasi mewawancarai lima masyarakat Dusun Karundang Tengah yang terlibat dalam tradisi Rebo Wekasan dan satu informan pendukung dari Bantenologi, serta data sekunder yang diperoleh melalui studi dokumentasi dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Situasi komunikatif Tradisi Rebo Wekasan Dusun Karundang Tengah mencakup pelaksanaan ritual di Mushola Al-Hidayah dan halaman warga untuk ritual dudusan. Ustadz Baedhawi memandu ritual keagamaan, sementara Ibu Masitoh dan tim memandu ritual dudusan (2) Peristiwa komunikatif dalam tradisi Rebo Wekasan mencakup permohonan, doa-doa, dan salam. Topiknya adalah permohonan perlindungan dari marabahaya, keselamatan, dan keberkahan bagi masyarakat. Tradisi ini bertujuan memohon perlindungan dan berkah dari Allah SWT serta mempererat silaturahmi. Dilaksanakan pada Rabu terakhir bulan Safar di Mushola Al-Hidayah dan halaman warga, dengan partisipasi seluruh masyarakat Dusun Karundang Tengah dan warga kampung lain. Pesan verbal dan nonverbal berfokus pada perlindungan, keselamatan, dan keberkahan. Urutan tindakan meliputi salat tolak bala, doa bersama, riungan, dan . Kaidah interaksi menggunakan bahasa yang jelas dan bermakna, serta norma interaksi mencakup kesopanan, etiket, dan tata krama selama tradisi. (3) Tindak komunikatif mencakup interaksi verbal dan nonverbal selama tradisi. Tradisi ini dimaknai sebagai sarana menolak bala. Sebagai warisan leluhur yang telah mengakar, masyarakat merasa bertanggung jawab untuk melestarikannya. | |||||||||
