Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim of analyzing planning, implementation, evaluation and action to improve the quality of education in increasing school competitiveness. The research was conducted on school principals, deputy heads of curriculum, and deputy heads of public relations, as well as a number of selected teaching staff and students of SMA Negeri 5 Serang City, also a number of student’s parents and school alumnus. Furthermore, to analyze a qualitative approach was used and used interview and observation methods. The results of the research show (1) The process of planning the quality of education in increasing school competitiveness carried out several steps that were taken into account. (2) The process of implementing educational quality in increasing the competitiveness of schools at SMAN 5 Serang City, namely applying various targets stated in the planning. (3) Education quality evaluation is implemented through the following steps: 1) curriculum evaluation, 2) human resource evaluation, 3) routine evaluation through monthly monitoring or annual evaluation. (4) Actions to improve the quality of education are carried out by providing in-house training and improving school information. (5) Schools have not been able to manage optimally in terms of school competitiveness, as well as facilities that are not run optimally. (6) The internal relationship between the school community and school leaders is less than ideal, there is still a lack of leadership power.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan tindakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dalam rangka meningkatkan daya saing sekolah. Penelitian dilakukan pada kepala sekolah, wakil kepala bidang kurikulum, dan wakil kepala bidang hubungan masyarakat, serta sejumlah staf pengajar dan peserta didik terpilih SMA Negeri 5 Kota Serang, selain itu dilibatkan juga orangtua peserta didik dan alumni sekolah. Selanjutnya, untuk menganalisis, pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dengan metode wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Proses perencanaan kualitas pendidikan dalam meningkatkan daya saing sekolah dilakukan melalui beberapa langkah yang diperhitungkan. (2) Proses pelaksanaan kualitas pendidikan dalam meningkatkan daya saing sekolah di SMAN 5 Kota Serang, yaitu menerapkan berbagai target yang telah dinyatakan dalam perencanaan. (3) Evaluasi kualitas pendidikan dilaksanakan melalui langkah-langkah berikut: 1) evaluasi kurikulum, 2) evaluasi sumber daya manusia, 3) evaluasi rutin melalui pemantauan bulanan atau evaluasi tahunan. (4) Tindakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan internal dan meningkatkan informasi sekolah. (5) Sekolah belum dapat mengelola daya saing secara optimal, serta fasilitas belum berjalan dengan maksimal. (6) Hubungan internal antara komunitas sekolah dan pimpinan sekolah kurang ideal, masih terdapat kekurangan dalam hal kekuatan kepemimpinan.
