Abstract

Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) is leftover frying oil that is no longer suitable for use and has the potential to cause various diseases if consumed again. WCO should not be thrown away carelessly because it will pollute the environment. One way that WCO can be reused without polluting the environment is to convert it into biodiesel. The test parameter values of WCO need to be known before it is converted into biodiesel. This research aims to design and develop a system that can measure the density, viscosity and Free Fatty Acids (FFA) content of WCO. The system is built using the DOIT ESP32 DEVKIT V1 microcontroller, which is connected to a load cell sensor and HX711 amplifier module, magnetic reed sensor module, LDR sensor module, blue laser, 5 VDC relay, three push buttons, LCD and I2C module to ensure accurate data acquisition. The methodology involves physical measurements and digital data processing. The testing was conducted on WCO samples collected from household and oil collectors. The results indicated that the WCO density ranged from 909 to 937 kg/m³, viscosity from 26 to 34 mPa.s and FFA from 0,08% to 5% palmitic, with average errors of 0,359%, 3,566% and 8,342% compared to laboratory reference values.

Additional Information: Minyak jelantah adalah limbah minyak goreng yang tidak lagi layak konsumsi dan menyebabkan berbagai macam penyakit jika dikonsumsi kembali. Minyak jelantah tidak boleh dibuang sembarangan karena akan mencemari lingkungan. Salah satu solusi untuk memanfaatkan minyak jelantah tanpa merusak lingkungan adalah dengan mengubahnya menjadi biodiesel. Nilai parameter uji dari minyak jelantah perlu diketahui sebelum diubah menjadi biodiesel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sistem yang dapat mengukur densitas, viskositas dan kandungan asam lemak bebas pada minyak jelantah. Sistem ini dirancang menggunakan mikrokontroler DOIT ESP32 DEVKIT V1 yang terhubung dengan sensor load cell dan modul amplifier HX711, modul sensor magnetic reed, modul sensor LDR, laser biru, relay 5 VDC, ketiga push button, LCD dan modul I2C untuk memperoleh data yang akurat. Metode yang digunakan melibatkan pengukuran fisis dan pengolahan data digital. Pengujian dilakukan pada sampel minyak jelantah yang dikumpulkan dari rumah tangga dan pengepul minyak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa densitas minyak jelantah berkisar antara 909 s.d 937 kg/m³, viskositas 26 s.d. 34 mPa.s dan asam lemak bebas 0,08 s.d 5% palmitat, dengan rata-rata kesalahan 0,359%, 3,566% dan 8,342% yang dibandingkan dengan referensi laboratorium.
