Abstract
This research aims to know the capability of understanding the concept of students in social science subjects to apply mind mapping learning model. The type research used is quasi experimental in the form of non equivalent control group design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique. The selected sample is class III A as control class which not get treatment and class III B as experimental class which get treatment. Based on pretest data processing obtained by average value of student of experiment class equal to 35,04 while control class equal to 31,36. After the lesson, both classes are given posttest. Based, on the data processing and posttest obtained the average ability of students’s concept understanding on the subjects of IPS students experimental class of 87,31 while the control class of 82,09 from the result of the difference tet average. To test the hypothesis used test inferensial. The result of the right obtained t-value 2,09 and t-tabel 1,68. Based on the result of this research can be concluded that the ability to understand student’s concepts on the subjects of IPS students using the Mind Mapping Learning Model there is better that the students who use Conventional Study Learning Model.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman konsep peserta didik dalam mata pelajaran IPS yang menerapkan model pembelajaran Mind Mapping. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen yang berbentuk non equivalent control group design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik Purpose sampling. Sample yang terpilih adalah kelas III A sebagai kelas kontrol yang tidak mendapatkan perlakuan dan III B sebagai kelas eksperimen yang mendapatkan perlakuan. Berdasarkan pengelolaan data pretest didapat nilai rata-rata peserta didik kelas ekspeimen sebesar 35,04 sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 31,36. Setelah pembelajara, kedua kelas diberikan posttest.
