Abstract
This study aimed to analyze code-mixing and code-switching used by Pandji Pragiwaksono, a YouTuber and a comedian. The objectives were to identify the types of code-mixing and code-switching and to understand the reasons behind it. This research can provide additional references to teachers regarding the benefits of using code-mixing and code-switching when applied in the classroom. A qualitative content analysis approach was employed. Data were gathered from Pandji’s YouTube videos: “The Loudest Voice in the Room”, “Sabotase Diri”, and “Senjata Rahasia Makan Tuan”. Types of code-mixing were identified using Muysken's theory, Insertion occurred most at 84.6%, followed by congruent lexicalization at 12.3%, and Alternation at 3.1%. Code-switching types were identified using Hoffman's theory, Intra-sentential occurred most at 82.6%, followed by Inter-sentential at 13.1%, and Tag-switching at 4.3%. The reasons were also analyzed using Hoffman's theory, talking about particular topics occurred most at 85.2%, followed by being emphatic about something at 10.2% and Quoting somebody else at 4.6%. This study also identifies the reasons by interviewing Pandji, the reason is that he consumes many English books, podcasts, and videos. He also uses English to align with the business he is involved in. Lastly, he uses English to quote from others. It can be concluded that two of the three reasons based on Hoffman's theory are in line with the reasons given by Pandji: Talking about particular topics and quoting somebody else. One remaining reason differs between Hoffman's theory and Pandji's answer, according to Hoffman's theory, the reason is being emphatic about something, whereas according to Pandji, it is due to habit.

Pendekatan analisis isi kualitatif digunakan. | |||||||||
