Abstract

Patient satisfaction with midwifery health services is influenced by communication. In social exchange theory, human relationships are likened to mutually beneficial economic exchanges. Ineffective communication can lead to suboptimal relationships between the midwife and the patient, which may decrease the quality of healthcare services and cause the midwife to make errors when delivering information. This, in turn, may affect the patient’s satisfaction during the service period. This study aims to determine the impact of communication between midwives and patients on patient satisfaction. The study uses a descriptive cross-sectional analysis method, with accidental sampling applied to a sample of 96 respondents. The results show that midwife-patient communication has a significant impact on patient satisfaction, with an average significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Overall, the study concludes that social exchanges between midwives and patients during communication influence patient satisfaction. Each stage of communication is a factor that patients consider when deciding whether to continue or discontinue their relationship with the midwife. It is recommended that healthcare professionals, especially midwives, establish good relationships through effective communication with all their patients. Communication is the primary tool for initiating and maintaining relationships, and through these relationships, healthcare workers are expected to earn the trust of their patients.

Additional Information: Kepuasan pasien pada layanan kesehatan bidan dipengaruhi oleh faktor komunikasi, dalam teori pertukaran sosial hubungan manusia diibaratkan seperti pertukaran ekonomi yang saling menguntungkan, komunikasi yang kurang efektif dapat menimbulkan hubungan yang kurang maksimal antara bidan dengan pasiennya yang berdampak pada menurunnya kualitas layanan kesehatan dan terjadinya kesalahan bidan dalam menyampaikan informasi, kedepannya akan mempengaruhi kepuasan pasien selama masa pelayanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komunikasi bidan dengan pasien terhadap kepuasan pasien. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif cross-sectional. Teknik sampel yang digunakan adalah accidental sampling dengan sampel sebanyak 96 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya pengaruh komunikasi bidan terhadap kepuasan pasien dengan nilai signifikansi rata-rata diperoleh 0.000 < 0.05, secara keseluruhan penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pertukaran sosial antara bidan dengan pasien saat komunikasi berlangsung mempengaruhi tingkat kepuasan pasien, seluruh tahapan komunikasi dijadikan pertimbangan bagi pasien terhadap bidan, untuk terus melanjutkan hubungannya dengan bidan atau malah meninggalkan hubungan tersebut. Saran bagi tenaga medis khususnya bidan diharapan mampu menjalin hubungan baik dengan komunikasi yang efektif kepada seluruh pasiennya, komunikasi adalah alat utama untuk memulai dan menjalin hubungan, dari hubungan tersebut diharapkan tenaga medis mendapatkan keuntungan dari pasien berupa kepercayaannya
