Abstract
ABSTRACT This research aimed to determine the effect of group-investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model to student’s cognitive skill and retention on environmental pollution subconcepts at class X in SMAN 5 Cilegon. The method used was a quasi-experiment with randomized control group only design. The population in this research were all students of class X SMAN 5 Cilegon second semester of the school year 2012/2013. The sample of this research were students of X4 class as an experiment class and students of X2 class as a control class which determined by simple random sampling technique. Data were obtained by objective tests using multiple choice questions, observation sheets, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t test and Mann Whitney test to test the hypothesis. Based on the result of the hypothesis test at significance level α=0,05, it can be concluded that group-investigation type of cooperative learning model has effect to student’s cognitive skill and retention on environmental pollution subconcepts at class X in SMAN 5 Cilegon. | Additional Information: | ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation (GI) terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan retensi siswa pada subkonsep pencemaran lingkungan kelas X di SMAN 5 Cilegon. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-eksperimen dengan desain randomized control group only. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMAN 5 Cilegon semester genap tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X4 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas X2 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes objektif tipe pilihan ganda, lembar observasi, dan angket. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji T dan uji Mann Whitney untuk menguji hipotesis. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis pada taraf signifikansi α=0,05, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe group investigation berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan retensi siswa pada subkonsep pencemaran lingkungan kelas X di SMAN 5 Cilegon.
