Abstract
The problem addressed in this research is to analyze and understand the forms of communication and motivation that occur within the student environment concerning the phenomenon of online gambling. The aim is to explore the experiences, motives, meanings, and impacts encountered by university students in Cilegon. The research method employed is qualitative constructivism, utilizing interviews and observations as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that online gambling is often perceived as an instant solution for financial problems, entertainment, or an escape from boredom and stress. The primary motivations for students to engage in online gambling include social pressures, the influence of advertisements, as well as urgent emotional and financial needs. However, involvement in online gambling also brings significant negative impacts, such as financial losses, decreased academic productivity, and social tensions, as well as moral conflicts. This research provides in-depth insights into the complexities of student involvement in online gambling and the factors that shape their experiences, which could be used to develop more effective interventions to address gambling issues among university students.

| Additional Information: | Permasalahan pada penelitian ini adalah menganalisis serta memahami terkait bagaimana bentuk komunikasi dan motivasi yang sebenarnya terjadi pada lingkungan mahasiswa melalui fenomena bermain judi online dengan tujuan mengetahui pengalaman, motif, makna, dan dampak yang dialami oleh mahasiswa di Cilegon. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif konstruktivisme dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa judi online seringkali dipandang sebagai solusi instan untuk masalah finansial, hiburan, atau pelarian dari kebosanan dan stres. Motivasi utama mahasiswa untuk memulai judi online meliputi dorongan dari lingkungan sosial, pengaruh iklan, serta kebutuhan emosional dan finansial yang mendesak. Namun, keterlibatan dalam judi online juga membawa dampak negatif yang signifikan, seperti kerugian finansial, penurunan produktivitas akademik, serta ketegangan dalam hubungan sosial dan konflik moral. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mendalam mengenai kompleksitas keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam judi online dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pengalaman mereka, yang dapat digunakan untuk mengembangkan intervensi yang lebih efektif dalam mengatasi masalah perjudian di kalangan mahasiswa. | |||||||||
