Abstract

Shampoo with the addition of K. alvarezii and P. guajava is a functional product that uses plants as the main ingredients. This research aims to determine the best formulation for the characteristics of shampoo with the addition of seaweed extract (K. alvarezii) and guava leaf extract (P. guajava). This research was carried out in March - July 2024. Making shampoo preparations, organoleptic testing, pH, centrifugation, foam stability, adhesion and antibacterial were carried out at the Fisheries Product Processing Technology Laboratory (TPHP) Fisheries Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University while Testing for total surfactant levels was carried out at the Center for Standardization and Services for the Pharmaceutical Chemical and Packaging Industry, East Jakarta. This research consists of 4 stages. The first stage is making seaweed extract (K. alvarezii). The second stage is making guava leaf extract (P. guajava). The third stage is making shampoo preparations. The fourth stage is test analysis. The method used in this research is a laboratory experimental method with the experimental design to be carried out namely a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatment levels, namely PSB0 (without adding active substances), PSB1 (7,50 gr K. alvarezii and 7,50 gr P. guajava), PSB2 (10 gr K. alvarezii and 5 gr P. guajava) and PSB3 (5 gr K. alvarezii and 10 gr P. guajava) with 2 repetitions. The results of this research show that in each treatment the addition of active substances has no real effect, so that the characteristics of adding active substances to shampoo preparations show that the best formulation is PSB0 treatment followed by PSB2 treatment with an appearance value of 2,74 ± 0,81, texture 3,07 ± 0,80, color 2,63 ± 0,80, aroma 3,23 ± 0,89, pH 7.31 ± 0.02 (alkaline), total surfactant content 22.92%, centrifugation unstable, foam stability 69.61% ± 0.54, adhesion 2.93 ± 0.25 seconds, antibacterial 2.25 ± 1.76 mm.
